An Ursine portrait performed with graphite on Strathmore 400 paper.
I'm relatively confident in my ability to create monochromatic art with dry media, though have gradually become bored and disengaged in the overall process. Yes, I'm thankful I can accurately draw believable creatures, but charcoal and graphite were simply a means to a greater end: a foundation to support paintings, yet, the more I draw, the more it seems I've lingered too long in this developmental phase; by now, I should be capable of more impressive, narrative paintings, yet a obvious skill-divide separates my true aspirations from works created with pencil and paper.
Until I've room to practice with oil paint, digital must serve as supplement; regardless, graphite and charcoal can't remain my primary medium.
