Elegy For a Decade

This was one of the last shoots Jack and I did at his mother's house. Up until covid, his mom would go to Florida for the winter, and he'd use her empty house as a studio. Our first shoot back in February of 2015 was there, and it was a reliable, regular studio up through 2020. We did so much experimenting, came to with so many ideas, grew as artists in that space...
His mother passed away last year. While this opened the door for us to work there again after 4 years of his mother having been homebound, we knew his family was selling the house eventually, and the time there was ultimately coming to an end. So it was a last hurrah, really.

It was weird watching the house slowly empty, as family members took things, and the space was prepared for sale. Our last shot there a few weeks ago was pretty much just in the bathroom, because it was empty of everything else... This photo was the last day the couch was there. All this happening as I'm preparing to move and not be able to work with Jack nearly as readily as for the last decade, it's a lot of change for everyone very quickly. I don't like dwelling on it, as I just spent paragraphs feeling on it, lol

Jack did some outstanding work for you over the years, including this photo. You look amazing!

It's funny, the meaning we often attach to places we've spent a lot of time. It's a fitting symbol of the time you spent there and the impact it had on your lives.
