Campaign: Camp Whispering Woods

Patrons who have yet to play a game also get preferential treatment.

Concept: This is a horror game set in the early 1990s. You are a teenager in the juvenile detention system for at least a year. You know the other players from detention or your life before. You four all received an extreme sentence for the minor crime you committed. You also had the same Judge. He brings you four to the courtroom and gives you an offer. If you spend a week at the long-neglected kids’ summer camp Whispering Woods refurbishing it to reopen, he will release you before you transition to the adult prison system. You take him up on the offer. You are dropped off at the neglected and overgrown camp in the middle of Whispering Woods – hours from civilization. A guard is with you to keep you “motivated”, and the van will return in a week. You have your to-do list and a promise of freedom. There is a week’s worth of supplies in the camp canteen.  Everything should be fine, right? RIGHT?

Aim: At the start, you are trying to finish the chores to be free from the system finally. Quickly, your goal becomes surviving. Walking back to safety isn’t an option – you are several days’ walk from civilization. There is a threat in these woods, and you must make it alive by next Sunday.

Tone: The game will emulate the horror movies of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Touchstones are Friday the 13th, Sleepaway Camp, Nightbreed, Jacob’s Ladder, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Subject Matter: Body horror, teens isolated and in danger, conspiracy, corruption, environmental disaster, exploitation of people and animals, gore, and survival.

The game should start in January and could be 3 to 8 sessions. We would play every two weeks at a day and time that works for everyone.
