Marvel: King of Mythology Chapter 22

Chapter 22: Crushed? Uh?

“That is Andy…” I heard Coulson mutter, but maybe it was only me who heard him.

“Run!”

The students paniced, and that led to a stampede where people pushed each other to get out.

“Everyone don't panic!” Coulson ordered, “Get out of here without hurting the others.”

He looked at some of the guards standing near the door, “Help them outside.”

Then he immediately looked at Norman, “Mr. Norman, it is best if you get out of here too.”

Norman however, just like me was entranced by the sight.

“What is that?” He asked and Coulson didn't know how to answer.

“Oh my god!” Gwen gasped in horror as she saw the monster swallowing a girl whole.

“Everyone, get out!” Coulson yelled and most of the students, while hurt were crawling out of the place.

He looked at me and Gwen, “You two get out too.”

“Y-Yeah…” I was still looking at the monster, it just swallowed a girl.

But…

She didn't die.

“What?”

The girl was thrown out of its body from behind.

His ass…

And she was naked as she got out of its body, shuddering.

Did it just swallow her for her clothes? But then I saw it swallowing tables and chair and the more it ate –the bigger it got.

“Leave now!”

And at that, I grabbed Gwen’s hand and tried rushing out.

Just as that happened, the heroes didn’t stay silent.

“Reed.” Susan yelled, “Stop it, till I help the students!”

Reed nodded and immediately jumped forward.

Before now, I had no clue what ‘Mr. Fantastic’ could do, but seeing him in action left me speechless.

His arms grew longer, as if they were made of rubber. And he immediately wrapped his hands around the monster constraining him.

As this happened, I saw Norman rush out with Harry. I took Gwen to a far distance, but something made me not want to leave.

Something made me want to see this go through.

I wanted to see how these experienced heroes fought.

And I did see.

“Sue!” Reed yelled, and Susan created a translucent semi sphere around a student at whom the monster kicked a table.

“Force field?” Even Gwen was staring at the scene.

I felt her shaking a little, possibly scared at the scene. But she seemed even more interested than scared.

“We should go.” I suggested.

“I…” She muttered, “Yeah.”

I understood what she felt, I felt the same.

But I couldn’t just let her be in danger.

Immediately taking her outside, I saw the building crumbling down a little.

“Go stay with the rest.” I said, “They are running towards the field.”

“And you?” She asked, both confused and horrified. “What about you?”

“I will follow you, but I need to find Peter.” I said, “I didn't see him escaping.”

“No, don’t go inside.” She seemed scared, “You saw him throwing objects like they weigh nothing. You might get hurt.”

It was nice that she cared about me, but I couldn’t let someone get killed for nothing.

“Don’t worry, Reed and Susan are handling it.” I assured, “I will just help Peter out.”

She still didn't want to let me go. She was trembling.

I knew why.

She saw her father saving innocents and he got hurt countless times in that process. She told me that at times she and her mother feared that one day he might not return.

This made me place my palm softly against her cheek, “Trust me. I will be fine.”

She stared at me, not wanting to let go.

“Promise you won’t get hurt.”

I stared at her and nodded, “I promise.”

It took a while, she kept staring at me –not letting me go.

But she knew that I wasn’t going to listen.

“Come back fast.” She said, “I will wait for you.”

I nodded, “I will.”

And with that, I saw her slowly walking towards the field –not letting me go out of her sight.

I knew Susan was inside and Coulson just came out to guide the children.

So, I didn't bother with the mask. I needed to keep the cooldown for necessary time.

And so, I rushed inside without it.

After all, Susan already knew me.

As for Reed, I didn’t care.

“Awesome Android…” Reed frowned, trying to hold the Android allowing it to move away. “Does it not come with a shut down manual?”

Coulson explained that it was a prototype for garbage disposal but its minuscule intelligence that was barely equivalent to a two year old caused a lot of trouble so they scrapped plans for him.

“Coulson just said that it grows bigger the more non living things it consumes!”

Susan tried to contain it within her force field but it didn’t work.

It was moving too much for her force field to work and its size kept expanding which made things worse.

“We need go get it away from things it can eat!” She yelled, but that felt ridiculous to Reed.

“Where?” He yelled back, “No matter where we throw him, he will find something to eat.”

This was difficult for both of them, especially for Reed who found it very difficult to keep holding the android.

Thankfully, someone came to his rescue.

“Move!”

As the android broke free from Reed’s hold, a sudden yell followed by a flying kick made the Android stumble to the ground.

“Now hold him!”

Reed didn't care who the person was, but this made him throw himself at the android instead of just his hands.

Extending his entire body, he wrapped himself around the android as tightly as he could –preventing any form of movement.

“Michael?” Susan said in surprise, “What are you doing here?”

Reed also looked at the boy, and was surprised to find it to be the same boy as earlier.

“It is not safe,” Reed yelled, “Get out of here.”

Susan asked, “Why are you here?”

“To save a friend,” He said but was confused to see Peter nowhere. “Where is Peter?”

“Who?” They asked, trying their best to keep holding the android.

“Nerdy boy with glasses.”

“There is no one here, get out!” Reed yelled, as he felt the android struggling hard to get out.

That made no sense to him. He did not see Peter leaving, even when he dragged Gwen outside –Peter was still inside.

And so was Luke.

‘Did I hallucinate?’ He wondered, but he still couldn’t understand how Peter could escape when he saw no one running after he and Gwen got out.

But that didn't matter.

If Peter made it out, it was good. But if this android got out, it would be worse.

“I can help.” He suggested and while Reed wanted to decline, Susan nodded.

“Can you fight him?” She asked, are you strong enough?

Reed saw Michael kicking the android but he wasn’t sure if it was smart to let a young boy with.

And he knew that the boy lacked experience.

“It's alright.” Susan assured, “He can hold his own.”

“What is its weakness?” Michael asked, seeing that despite being kicked, the android still managed to get up.

“We don’t know.” Reed frowned, “But it gets stronger the more it eats.”

Michael bit his nail, ‘Then how do we stop it?’

Delaying it would not be very beneficial, but they couldn't waste time thinking either.

“It's moving!”

Reed said, immediately trying to hit it with his enlarged fist.

“Ugh!”

But the android grabbed his hand and tried to eat it.

“Shit!” Susan immediately tried wrapping her force field around his hand, but that didn't work.

This made Michael grab a slab of concrete and throw it immediately at the android.

“Now!”

The moment the android’s attention shifted, Reed managed to get his hand off of its grip.

This infuriated the android.

“It's angry, dodge!” Susan yelled, as similar to Michael it also took a massive piece of concrete slab and threw it towards them.

‘This just can’t get any worse.’

He just wanted to win the science fair, and now he was being forced to fight a brick android that grew bigger the more it ate.

But, no.

He was wrong.

Things could always get worse from bad.

And that it did.

“M-Michael?”

He was horrified as he heard the voice. It was familiar and one that he likes listening to.

But not now, not here.

“Gwen?” He yelled, horrified. “Why are you here?”

“Professor C-Coulson said Peter escaped…” She was shook seeing the scene, “So, I came to g-get you.”

“DODGE!!!” Reed yelled, and Michael paled as he saw why he shouted that.

A massive piece of slab, one almost the size of a pillar was thrown at Gwen.

“Shit!”

He had no time.

He had no time to think, he had no time to care.

Seeing that Gwen was in danger, he threw himself in her direction –uncaring of it revealing his powers.

If it wasn’t already.

“Duck!” He yelled and Gwen’s eyes immediately closed before she squatted down, expecting to be crushed.

But the rubble didn't get to her.

“A-are you hurt?” She heard Michael’s voice and as she opened her eyes, she was horrified.

“Y-You…” She was aghast seeing him –the entire weight of the slab on his back, protecting her from being crushed.

But maybe that wasn’t their luck.

“No! Move!” Susan yelled, but it was already too late.

The impact of the slab made the structure shake, causing the roof to crack and crumble down on the two.

“NOOOO!”

Crushing them.
