DC: The Enchanter Chapter 70

Chapter 70: Entry to Serenora

Violet's eyes fluttered open as she regained consciousness. A piercing headache surged through her, throbbing with each heartbeat. It felt as if a relentless drum pounded inside her skull. She lay on the hard floor of an old army van, surrounded by dim, unfamiliar surroundings.

The dim light filtered through the van's small, grimy windows, further intensifying her discomfort. She remained still, her senses slowly awakening to the cold, metallic interior and the faint smell of gasoline.

In her groggy state, fragmented memories of a certain event began to resurface. Violet's initial confusion started to give way to the realization that she was in an unsettling predicament. But for now, she chose to remain motionless, not wanting to alert her captors to her regained consciousness.

'I might have given them too much credit,' she mused to herself casually.

She made sure not to create a stir, then slowly opened her eyes and glanced around. Much to her surprise, she found herself in the company of several other girls, all facing a situation similar to her own.

'I knew people would come after me after they realize the potential of my ability, but I did not expect them to send such crude and uncouth goonies.'

She believed the other girls to be similar to her –metahumans.

Which she immediately denied after realizing something.

'They won't group a bunch of meta humans together bound by nothing but a few shackles.' She knew that while they were stupid, they would not be that stupid.

'Only a few of us will be meta in that case or maybe I am the only one with abilities.'

But despite her being a meta human and someone possessing an unfathomable ability, she was not someone that could physically take on her kidnappers.

Her ability, her strength was something totally different from physical prowess.

'This is more like a curse sometimes.'

The ability, the power she had was called Enhanced Intelligence, an ability that allowed her to compete with the greatest minds of this world.

And unlike most who awakened their powers after years, she was aware of her ability from her birth.

It could be considered a side effect of her power.

Hyper Awareness.

But other than that, she also had the other aspects that related to Enhanced Intelligence.

Such as Accelerated Thought Process, Accelerated Perception, Parallel Calculations, Eidetic Memory and a few others.

But the obvious downfall of being smarter than most was over-evaluating the intelligence of other.

Which was one of the reasons she ended up in such a situation.

She overestimated the goons and since they were unable to outsmart her, they used force to catch her.

However, while others would be worried in such a situation –Violet was not.

Instead she was disappointed.

'How boring.'

Finally calculating the level of intellect of the kidnappers, she was certain that she could take them on.

Not physically but in other ways.

She already made countless plans to escape and maybe even mess with the goonies in the process as well.

But her plans changed almost instantly when she heard one of the men speak.

"Gahaha! We are finally inside!" He laughed, "Now that we are here, not even Batman would be able to get to us!"

For a second, Violet was confused as to which place was capable of stopping Batman.

But the man's next words answered her question just as easily.

"In Serenora, it is all businessmen and that means we will not be faced with any issues or questions about our visit." His laughter continued, "Since we are also businessmen!"

Violet was stunned when she heard that the place they were at was Serenora.

Being an avid reader of business magazines as well as being extremely interested in the story of heroes and villains –She was well aware of Serenora and who it belonged to.

"That man will also come to Serenora and we will leave immediately once we sell these girls to him."

Violet knew that she was kidnapped to be sold to someone but she realized something else.

'They… They do not know anything about Serenora…'

She was stunned, too stunned to even move her eyes.

'How can someone be so unaware?'

News of Serenora and it's founder were all over the net and she was aware what that man was capable of. So, when she saw them being so unaware –She knew this was going to be interesting.

A grin formed on her face, and if someone else were to look at it, they would find it evil.

But instead it was merely a smile of mischief.

'Maybe… Maybe, I should let the events go as they are going.'

She knew that it was going to be oh so exciting.

'And maybe… I will see the best show that Gotham has to offer.'

And in truth, her guess wasn't too far off.

Serenora was bustling.

The amount of people laughing and walking around the street with shopping bags was baffling.

The success of Serenora was unpredicted. Especially considering it was situated in the middle of Gotham.

And it baffled him to see all the happy faces in Gotham.

It was unheard of.

"Do not disappoint me, Oliver."

He heard the voice expressing it's lack of confidence in him. It irked him but till now Oliver has failed many times and had yet to redeem himself.

"I will not."

He was determined, his vision was focused and his body was perfectly in sync with his mind.

Staring to the front, he slowly pulled his right arm back –drawing the bowstring towards his chest in the process.

His vision was fixated on the road, especially over a van. It was as if a falcon was glaring at its prey.

His breaths were in perfect sync with the moving wind and his veins started to pop around his arms –making them visible and symbolize the amount of strength he was exuding.

"Three."

The air was strong but his determination was stronger.

"Kekeke! Then do your best, I will watch and enjoy the show."

"Two."

He did not even hear what the voice said because of how determined he was.

His only focus was the speeding van.

"One."

In the fraction of a second, an arrow shot forward, faster than any bullet.

It cut through the wind current and impaled itself directly into the tire of the van –exploding it.

The van went out of control and tripped before flying forward.

Without wasting another second, Oliver Queen took another arrow and shot it.

This time, this arrow was not meant to destroy but to protect.

And it did protect the people from dying in the uncontrolled van.

The arrow that landed on the road exploded and formed a massive wall of a foamy substance.

This allowed the van to crash on it and immediately slow down –preventing the people inside from suffering any serious injury.

However, this action was a sign.

A sign that showed Green Arrow was not interested in protecting the people at that moment.

But he was more interested in dishing out punishment.

"And now…" He finally muttered, "We await his arrival."

However, to the dismay of the goons and possibly even the residents of Serenora –Oliver was too drunk in his revenge and too affected by the manipulation and magic of Klarion.

Enough that it let out a very nasty and sadistic nature that was hidden deep inside his heart.

It was something that he always hid. From even before the time when he was trapped in the god forsaken island.

"But first…" A sadistic grin appeared on his face, "I shall teach them a lesson and show the people of this place why they should never follow a villain."

He was so blinded by his anger that he didn't mind involving the innocent in his plot.

Something that was going to be a catalyst for his downfall.
