Musically - watching him 'discover' NF & then Eminem, saying he couldn't relate to the emotional songs that NF sang ... And now he listens to emotional songs. He has opened his mind astonishingly far in an incredibly short amount of time. When he started Knight Talk, we didn't talk about stuff like this all the time. Well... Probably bc the shit hadn't hit the fan yet. But Stevie was also not vocal about his, um, political (that's not the right word) - common sense - things. Everything has just gradually shifted to where we are now. I am only telling you what I know from my personal experience. I cannot speak for his wife nor his closest fam. I was giving it a couple of days to see if anyone else responded - I am adamant about responses to important questions and observations. I love yours, obviously. But I respect Stevie immensely and wanted to give him time to respond, or someone who has been around him longer than me. Your question is too meaningful to be left unanswered, tho. Even if I didn't know him like I do, I would ask you to go back with me and watch his reactions from three years ago and compare them to now. The only thing that hasn't changed is that Stevie, no matter what, no matter if he is 100% in the wrong, will always keep in a buck. Always. And when he is wrong, he will look you straight in the eye and tell you ASAP. It doesn't matter if you are a Tier Level 1 Patreon or Level 5, if he reacts to your song and doesn't like it, sorry for it. I don't do short messages, obviously. I hope this gives you some insight. You know what I think changed him the most? Starting a family.

A few takeaways… the way you talked about your old views vs current views was perfect because I kid you not, my brother is “everybody against us” victim mindset, but myself I have a more open the world is bigger than the trauma mindset.. and you split that perfectly, another thing is when you talked about the media.. the media absolute preys on our emotional trauma because they know we’ll tap in so they make sure to make 1 incident be the biggest news story for months in a row, they know they enjoy seeing us angry and emotional.. you hit everything on the head but still my biggest takeaway is, we gotta change our thinking, that victim mindset is only gonna keep us stuck

To do that, we need to focus on three things: 1) Create and support black owned businesses, as well as all black people in the work force. 2) Encourage and support black fathers to stay with their kids and be a positive role model. 3) No more dividing culture based on color. Treat everything as OUR shared American culture now. Make friends that don’t look like you, and learn everything you can from them, and teach them everything you know about how to succeed in life.
