He become more of a MUSICIAN as time went on tho & he was really perfecting his craft when he passed. & Yeah I don't think your gonna like the way some of his songs sound, beat-wise, but the lyrics & the shit he says in them is what makes his music so timeless & impactful for others, myself included. If we don't get a Mac Week, please consider doing reviews on his Albums (like you do with Em) because I really think the albums you'll fuck with the most will be 'Faces', 'Good AM' & 'Watching Movies With The Sound Off'. Those are both very rap heavy, while still having some vibey songs here & there (but again, it wouldn't be a true Mac Album WITHOUT some vibey shit). But if it's some rap shit you want, those albums are your go to. Watching Movies With The Sound Off is a bit more dark, depressing & Trippy than Good AM tho & 'Faces' speaks for itself honestly. Mac said he was so fucked up on drugs making that album that he "Wasn't on Earth" & had to go to Rick Rubin's house afterwards to detox. I think you'll fuck with Swimming too tho. It's definitely more mellow & vibey & carthatic when compared to the other 3 I just mentioned but it's some good music in general. The album deals with him going through the motions of trying to overcome his drug abuse, while also portraying an optimistic desire to develop self-love, personal healing & psychological growth (which is what a lot of his music & lyrics centered around). This album was also the last one he released before his death (a month AFTER it's release)...
