Chapter 80: Kree Empire 1

Perspective: The Emperor

The mining world echoed with the rhythmic thunder of industry. Beneath a haze of sulfuric clouds and humming plasma towers, the surface crawled with endless machines. Towering cranes moved ore with mechanical grace, while bipedal semi-AI robots carved canyons through rock and ferried materials into vast subterranean forges.

This was not Terra. It was a foreign, stripped world, conquered months prior and turned into a staging ground. A world reforged for war.

Deep within the planet's crust, in a fortress shaped from reinforced adamantium and alien alloys, the Emperor stood at the center of a war council. Around him gathered His sons, each a warlord, each a symbol of what humanity could become.

Lion El’Jonson, veiled in shadow and silence.
Sanguinius, haloed in light, his wings folding like silk.
Leman Russ, sharp-eyed and impatient.
Rogal Dorn, unmoving, like the walls around them.
Vulkan, quiet, watchful, and burning with controlled purpose.

A vast hololithic display hovered above the center of the council chamber, fed by captured Kree data. Dozens of stars blinked into view, some marked with sigils of enemy movement, others shrouded in mystery.

“Their empire has grown complacent,” the Emperor said. “Our prior victories left them wounded, but not broken. Now, we take the war to them.”

The Emperor's hand moved slightly. The stars realigned. New paths emerged, hidden trade routes, backup production systems, fallback military bases. All extracted from the navigational cores of ruined Kree vessels.

“Perturabo, Corax, Guilliman, and the others continue to press outward, expanding our reach, securing new systems, building the future Imperium,” he continued. “But here, now, you shall strike.”

A massive door behind them groaned open, revealing the Tesseract Gate, newly constructed on the alien soil. Its crystalline pylons hummed with immense energy, thrumming like a living pulse. Strange geometric patterns flickered along its surface, reacting to the Emperor’s presence.

“This gate is our spear,” He said. “It will pierce through the Kree’s inner sectors. Through it, we shall launch precision strikes against their industrial, command, and logistics worlds.”

Sanguinius approached the map. “Then it begins now. Let them learn what it means to provoke humanity.”

Leman Russ gave a low chuckle. “I’ve been waiting to get my hands on them again.”

Vulkan studied the map in silence before speaking. “What resistance should we expect?”

“Significant,” Dorn answered, folding his arms. “But nothing we cannot break.”

The Emperor nodded. “You will not just destroy. You will build footholds. Occupy key systems. Map the path for the next phase. This is the edge of something far greater.”

The Tesseract Gate surged with light, its stabilizers locking into place. Warships in orbit began to shift, ready to follow their Primarchs into the breach. Armies waited, equipment loaded, AI battle-constructs prepared for deployment.

The Emperor stepped back from the holomap, gaze fixed on the pulsing gate. His voice rang like a command to the stars themselves.

“Go now. Bring the storm.”

And so, the gate opened and with it, the beginning of a new kind of war.
