God of the Sun

Whoa, this was a process! I had few ideas on how to tackle this prompt and invested a lot of time in drawings that will not be used in the goodie bags but I'd love to share them with you 👀✨

I traditionally started with some thumbnails and once I felt drawn to one (upper right)of them I proceeded to make a bigger sketch.

But damn, let me tell you, it didn't feel right even a bit. I looked back and forth to the thumbnail and the drawing I was working on didn't resemble the energy of the initial sketch at all. I tried again but this time with a different thumbnail (lower right)

I couldn't settle on a version and whichever one caught me for longer, the more I worked on it the more wonky if felt. I wasn't satisfied with the head design and stiffness of the pose. One of the sketches was brought to a finish though:

Even though I loved the concept of the head partially inspired by the alien presence from the movie Annihilation, it didn't feel "sun" enough. So I tried to tackle it from a different angle and make the God of the Sun be an multiple arm entity floating in space like a flaming sphere:

Unfortunately the design of the pose was not very legible. When I looked at it upside down it was very confusing at what exactly was I even looking at. That's what you get for not planning the pose on a smaller scale before and troubleshooting it before putting hours into rendering. Design first - then render! Unless you just start drawing whatever and it turns out to be really fun. Fun enough to make it into actual print~

After attaching some missing limbs that were omitted to save some time - here's the final result that will be sent out in the upcoming goodie bags 🙌✨

This design made it so much easier to figure out what did I want the sticker to look like. At first I fiddled a bit with some fish eye camera inspired crazed look of the Sun God, but I enjoyed the symmetry of their face so much that I made another design which ended up to be a final one (upper right)

I liked how unstable their personality felt. I imagined them as an insane but very supportive god who makes sure your self esteem never drops below the norms of someone who is worthy of worshiping them 👀✨
I matched the energy with a little line they would say to you in your moments of self-doubt, and this is the result!

The sticker will have some nice slight holo effect on the lettering and a few accents on the Sun's face. Can't wait to send them out in the middle of June! Until then I will be working on some few belated projects and the design of the envelope sealer and a thank you note to match the Sun theme~!
