Gilded-Trading Card Prototype & New PC

Here is an update on what I've been working on these last 2 weeks. [No story spoilers]

Gilded Trading Cards Test Prints!

If you watch the video above, you'll see that Kero & I have successfully produced some gold-foil cards with digital art on them. This test print (card #0 0 0) of NightVibe, one of our moderators here and in Hyun's Dojo, is the first look at a new piece of merchandise I hope to distribute to you guys in the future. I believe the delivery of these cards will be much more economic and reliable than previous merch. NightVibe himself seemed very pleased:

As I mentioned in the previous post, these artist cards will be chock-full of custom art and information. Each one will have a QR code that I can update to link to even more biographical info, or even integrate into a bigger web-app.

I suspect the colors look off due to camera quality - Kero's grandma kindly took these photos!

The videos of the prototype look pretty good, but I won't know for sure until I have them in my hands (3-4 weeks from now?). However - once I confirm their quality, we can begin designing a whole batch of cards to be printed later on. I hope to first depict major characters from my animations, and then branch out from there.

Story 7 Progress

The intro for the new animation is nearly half-done, which makes the animation about 12% done overall. I'm currently working on some interactions between Arzon and Gildedguy, and it's turning out to be very fun. Their personalities are surprisingly similar, which is somewhat new for my character.

We established a rough background rendering style, still subject to change. The level of style-experimentation in this animation is going to be very high, maybe similar to the variety in Gildedguy & the Green-Eyed Cowboy.

New PC

Last week I built a new computer with the technical help of friends, including PowerMeep (our composer). It's a huge upgrade that I hope will last me 7+ years. I can already feel the speed! Adobe Flash and Sony Vegas open up way faster, and the time to render is at least twice as fast. Nerdy number crunchers can look at the stats here.

Only downside is that I have to reconfigure all my user preferences, so productivity will take a small hit until my hotkeys are all back to normal.

Stuntman Part

Last week I spent several hours on a part for Hatena's Stuntman 2 Collab. It's essentially an extended "what-if" scene of Tyrra from the Story 7 opening. Click here to watch it with sound!
