Nazrin is a relatively simple character, focused on scooping up Items that other players drop. Gold Detector has a theft option and a destroy option, just in case you don’t want someone’s Focus. She isn’t literally a trash panda, but she’s just as cute!

Tatara Kogasa is one of my favorite Touhous. Her power of surprising people extends even to herself, even she doesn’t know what she’s gonna do next! If you like playing a Wild Magic Sorcerer in D&D, she’s the youkai for you. She loses a little bit of Spell Card power in Big Box, Carrot had been playing as her and described the experience to me as “a lot.” 

Speaking of a lot, Kumoi Ichirin brings her Pokemon along to battle, and boy is he a lot. Ichirin and Unzan make for an extra brutal team, upping the anti and making taking a hit for draw power a non-option. 

Ramming Speed!! Captain Murasa Minamitsu is here to sink your ships and steal your girlfriend. Her character card is all about crashing into things. I really enjoy all of the alternate Spell Card activation characters, they’re all bombastic in different ways. “Ocean Region of the Greedy Dead” does a whole lot, but the lack of control over it is a major balancing factor. 

Toramaru Shou is the same as she’s always been in Danmaku!!; she just gets a wording update in Big Box. The exchange rule updates are very visible if you’re familiar with how she plays. She can’t go nova and have a 27 minute turn anymore, but she still gets all of her extra draws from exchanging for Items as much as she can.

Back when we first designed Hijiri Byakuren, she was a very new Touhou and the debate about whether she had gradient hair or not still didn’t have a clear answer. Byakuren herself hasn’t changed since then; she’s still beautiful and strong.

██████████ is so fancy she gets two Abilities. This unstable shapeshifter is a big reason the Extra Character mechanics were developed. Her Spell Card allows her to optimize her Abilities for whatever situation she finds herself in.
