This month I have to announce a new rule for the Q&As, please only ask four or less questions! More people have been joining the patron, and so more questions are being asked. I want to make sure I have time to answer questions for everybody who wants to join in but that's gonna require limiting how big submissions can be going forward. I'm sorry to have to put a cap on it, but it's great to see such a large interest in these Q&As!
Here you can ask me things you're wondering about for our games or company and they'll be answered at the end of the month an an audio recording (with a text transcript too). Just make sure the questions long follow the guidelines!
The transcript of the question answers will be public! We'll automatically remove questions that are about things only revealed to the Patreon, like Project W stuff. If you don't want your question shared with everybody, you can leave a note in your comment to say so.
The thread will close after the 19th.
Guidelines:
1. Please don't reply to other people's questions even if you know the answer. The fun of joining a Q&A is that the developer can give a direct response to you and that everyone else also gets to hear/see the answer in the end of the month post. Having another player resolve the question in the comments right here might not be what the asker was hoping for. This thread is more about having a good time rather than looking for an immediate response to an important question. And if you do have a question you want to hear about right away, it's best to ask in some other thread or to message me directly.
2. I'm afraid questions about what scenes/choices/art assets Our Life: Now & Forever will include aren't answerable right now. Most of the details are decided as the game is created and currently I'm only writing Step 1. I do know some things coming later, but only a small fraction of the whole game.
3. The questions can't be about more serious/potentially upsetting topics because I don't want those listening to suddenly be surprised with something they might not have been prepared for/want to be confronted with.
4. Please keep the questions here to things that wouldn't be really hard to tackle in an off-the-cuff, spoken out loud kind of Q&A, aha. Questions about a half dozen characters or wanting an entire theoretical situation described aren't super doable in this situation.
You can always send me questions outside of the audio Q&A if they wouldn't work here!

2025-10-19 19:04:04 +0000 UTCHope you feel better from getting sick GB, and thank you again the whole team!! :] MC’s moms doting over Baxter once he reintroduced himself was so cute- do they continue to do that once he’s more intergrated into the family if dating the MC? The visual of them mothering him- like making sure he’s fed and telling him to wear a jacket or something- is super cute, so I’m curious! Branching off of that a little- I know Pam makes a joke about Cove being like a son now once he and MC are married. Would being seen like that make Baxter uncomfortable at all, considering his complicated family history? Did Cliff really not notice anything was up when coming home during the Step 3 Patreon bonus? Cove isn’t great at hiding things, so I’ve always wondered, haha.

Like If the MC is kinda uncomfortable or indifferent about Sexual stuff in general but still feels romantic attraction? Im Ace myself so i kinda Just felt Like asking lol. I don’t know if this is fully “mapped out” for further steps, but if you have a plan, how will the relationships between the OL2 LI’s relationships change between them and their parents after Step 2? It doesn’t have to be in detail, but will they get relatively closer or farther? 2.) I don’t need specific numbers, but kinda like the height scale in OL1, how tall are Vianca, Tamarack, Serenity, Ren, and Qiu in Step 2 of OL2. Would they be considered Very Short, Short, Average, Tall, or Very Tall?

When Yusuf see the mc come into the diner by themselves he looked concerned even when the mc expresses that they were okay, was he concern mc being by themselves or was he concern over the mc's well being like how they were doing mentally even if they were feeling alright? 2. if the mc were friends with Vianca and ask if she could not be so curt with Ren would she be defensive/would she try not to be so dismissive with her, like they're not asking her to like/be friends with Ren, but not to treat her so poorly. I know that the character's relationships between other characters are beyond our control, but it really broke my heart to see Ren treated so rudely. Would Ren also be annoyed with the mc if she found out they spoke to Vianca about her? would that be overstepping her boundaries?

Project W looks super interesting so far and I'm excited to see it release, I'm wondering if you're already brainstorming for the next game after that and if so, are you thinking of something alike to OL, Project W, or something new entirely? 2. This was my first time supporting a game on kickstart so I'm just curious: when the game releases, how long does it take for the codes to be sent out to all kickstarter supporters? 3. For the OL2 leads, if they could pick a favorite theme for their wedding, what would it be? Thanks for your and the team's hard work, seeing progress on the game as been super exciting and the art icons and such has been super cute.

Would they not even agree to it, do it but see it as silly, take it seriously even if it's just for a bit, anything like that? Just curious because this was very common when I was a kid! I hope you and everyone who works on the games is well. 1: I was curious to know how Ren (Step 2 OLNF) feels about MC after a few years of being friends has passed? There’s an option to choose having a crush on Ren, so I was wondering if that would be something brought up in the future. 2: Do you have a favorite character from your games? If so, who? 3: Not a question, I just wanted to mention that in OLBA, during Baxter’s DLC moment where you go around town with him, he mentions that he has a feeling that one day he may meet the player in Golden Grove. I thought that was such a fun hint to the creation of OLNF(unless it was unintentional in which case that’s even wilder)

When first meeting Mr. Baumann he is described as fairly grayscale, and it made me wonder if lil Baxter had any thoughts on his style if he saw him around? What about adult Baxter if Mr. Baumann maintained the look? 2. When Qiu says Baxter isn’t mature about some stuff in the OL2 prologue, what exactly are they referencing? The snootiness? 3. What exactly does Baxter mean when he says that “a wedding is a dead end” in his Step 4 confession? 4. In OL1, for an MC who loved surfing with Ma when little and wanted to learn themself as soon as possible, at what age would the Moms get them their first surfboard?

As in it will truly never ever happen? 😭 2. Would there be more future opportunities to pay to have a voiced name in the game if the VAs have yet to start recording the names? I joined the kickstarter for OLNF way back and I regret only getting the smaller tier back then! 3. In Baxter’s DLC Step 3 the Mountain trip, what was going through his head after that intimate session? Eg: Baxter would already be ‘frozen’ & in a daze if you leave the room (thinking its his room) and even as you went back in, Baxter still hasn’t moved and is still dazed. What is he feeling/thinking in that moment? Is he catching real feelings for MC and just realising it? 4. We know Baxter has been in plenty of relationships / ‘flings’ (assuming he had hookups etc as a typical college kid) and he’s open enough to go skinny dipping but I was always confused at why the reservation for physical intimacy with MC throughout? I initially thought Baxter wouldn’t be so reserved about intimacy as a pretty wild/improper guy and ‘someone that couldn’t wait’ in Step 3, so I was abit surprised at how Baxter seems to be very restrained around the MC other than the usual innocent kisses and that one shortlived session in the Mountains trip (despite him stopping and turning away to look at the door).

OLBA was such a comfort game to me, and I liked what I have seen so far for OLNF, and I can't wait for the full release! I have two questions related to the Lin Family. First does Yi and Hong have a backstory on how they met? I loved seeing tidbits on the moms in the first game and I love Yi and Hong's dynamic and its cute seeing where Qiu got some of their personality from. The second question, I know that the Baumann family is going to have some conflict and it's one of the main focuses of Tammy's story but are we going to see any potential conflict with Qiu and their parents? I think it's been hinted at that something is going on, I just want to know if the Lin family issues are going to be explored if the MC spends time with Qiu more than Tammy. Feel free not to answer if it contains spoilers or have been answered already! Hope you have a good October!

How would Vianca react if a sometimes girl MC ignored her attempts at friendship AND was a serious competitor for her in ballet? Like prima ballerina levels of skills. It's an option to say we're good at ballet but the competitive beef seems to just be one sided with her against Qiu and I kinda want to see it between her and the MC too. Especially if there's more of a chance to win a girl role in plays. 2. How would Cove react if his and MCs kid turned out to be clingy and attached to him? Or only really clingy with MC to the point of needing to be held and needing her attention 24/7? 3. How would Cove, his parents, and our family react to the news that MC was pregnant? I'm curious to know how Cove and them would treat her during the duration of the pregnancy. 4. How would a crushing Step 2 Qiu and Tammy react if during Valentine's Day, some student tried to confess to MC in front of them with flowers and a card? Like I know buff Cove probably does regularly probably, but what’s the difference if he’s studious and not buff? 2.) What exactly would ick Cove to be mad-mad at his and MC’s child? Like gentle parenting doesn’t often not work so I’m curious. 3.) Would Cove and MC clash over parenting styles? It is mentioned that MC growing up had quite the “strict” household where they’d be taught to face the consequences while Cove gets away with most of them. Do they feel more energetic when there's full sunlight, or is it the baseline for them, but they feel more sluggish the less light they receive (foggy weather, shortening daylight in Autumn/Winter seasons, at night, being underground, etc.)? OL2: Considering we can have music sheets in our room in the first Step, and taking up an instrument is an option (or at least something Opal mentioned, alongside dancing) as a possible extra-curricular activity, would we be able to say how long the MC was interested in music/playing musical instruments (such as from before moving to Golden Grove/sometime during Step 1/between end of Step 1 and beginning of Step 2), maybe when the MC and Tamarack perform for the recital?

How would Tammy and Qiu react to a grouchy Mc that in public is very "You no touchy." Anti-PDA. But in private they are not only very affectionate but *clingy*. Nuzzling, cuddling and overall just following them everywhere like a baby duckling. Like such a stark difference that no one would believe them if they ever told anyone surly MC acted that way. I find it funny to think about.

I'm wondering if Qiu will change their favorite color to something specific about MC in Step 3, like how their favorite color was gold in Step 1 but now it's silver in Step 2 (not sure if it was because of Tamarack's hair color, or if they just liked gold in general).

And after that scene, going down the route, will Qiu hold a grudge against MC, or think about the way MC picked Tamarack (for those that picked the Tamarack option) instead of them? Is it an insecurity issue or an attachment issue? I hope those aren't difficult questions.
