[Art] Kareen-ing Crash~!

Hello dearies!

Today I wanted to share the progress of the scene, Kareen Crash, where Kareen lives up to her name, crashing into Bill’s back, and “accidently” flashing her booty.

I talked about this one a little bit in a previous post, where I shared some of the rough sketches, but I wanted to talk about it a bit more and share the finished piece.

As I said in the previous post, my first attempt looked a little too close to the one with Kareen sitting on the bed in the Prologue, so we ended up deciding that I’d try to draw one with her butt facing the camera instead.

It was a little difficult to get the fabric and the muscles in the leg to look right, so I did a few studies on legs to try and help me out. I wanted to get the subtle details of the legs looking nice, so I knew it would be worth it!

I don’t think I’ll be memorising every muscle and bone name (vastus lateralis, sartorius, patella?!), but knowing their shapes will help me out a lot. I learned a bunch, but I still need to study more to truly understand leg muscles, so I’ll keep at it and move on to other muscle groups too!

As I was working out the final details, lining and coloring everything and making Kareen look super cute, I also paid a lot of attention to shading the folds of her clothes.

I redrew the way her skirt fell over her butt a couple times, because I really wanted to emphasise the area. The way fabric drapes can really help make a scene look extra pretty!

Once Kareen was looking super cute, I started playing with Clip Studio Paint’s 3D tools to figure out the background. I was trying to get the perspective to look good, but the initial angle I had for the path didn’t quite seem right, so I was looking for something that felt better.

Since backgrounds aren’t my favorite thing to draw, Zuri offered to help. We realised that because I had made a basic 3D background, Zuri could take that as a reference and, using their amazing Blender skills, overlay my drawing into the full 3D scene of the outdoor pathway.

To do this, Zuri made a special version of the 3D scene with just what we needed for the picture and rendered it out, using my drawing as a guide for the camera.

Then, to make her really pop in the scene, we took the renders back into Clip Studio Paint. We added some pretty dappled lighting from the trees over Kareen’s legs and painted her shadows on the ground. After a few more tweaks, she fit into the 3D scene perfectly. I’m so happy with how it looks!

It’s great that we get to reuse all the effort Zuri put into those 3D backgrounds. Plus, it saves me from spending ages on fiddly background details, so I can spend even more time working on making the Paizuri Girls super cute!

We’re going to try the same technique with a few other scenes to see if it works for them too. It’s a bit of an experiment, so let us know what you think! 💜
