Hey y’all,
I’ve been super busy this past week adding support for props to Character Avatars and Scrolling Backgrounds to Zurizuri Engine.
It wasn’t exactly simple and lets just say it was way more fiddly than previously expected.
It has also been really hot, and trying not to hack code while your brain melts has been T_T_T_T_T_T__T. (35+c days and more still coming : | )
So what’s new in the Zurizuri Engine for Paizuri University!?!
Background Scrolling
We can now make backgrounds of different sizes and scroll through them. For sexy effect!

Character Editor
This thing lets us set up characters a little easier. There are still a few things to add, but it does what it needs to for all the new things in the headings below.
It's where most of the time went this week to make sure it's easy to use and extendable. We'll be doing a lot of things with it in the near future for our character work.
It also supports displaying Live2D characters.

Character Anchors
Using the editor we can specify anchor points for different emotions. These can then be used by the Character System to attach props and other objects using simple ZScript commands.

Character Props
Prop assets can now be loaded and then attached to Character Anchors. And the props can be anything, animated sprites, particles… heck even physics ding dongs.
It also uses the Effects system that was added previously.

Pretty Tools
I spent some time making things neat and colorful in our Editors… ...it was a hot day. Like really hot. And it was annoying looking at Unity Grey all the time.
Other Stuff
The asset system was upgraded to support all the new things.
A crap ton of bugs got fixed too.
Adventure Mode also got the Scrolling scene upgrade, which will let us create clickable scenes. There’s no picture, because there was no art to go with it (just grey squares and buttons). It's at least a step closer to being... ...something!
Next will be cleaning up, bug squashing and testing, before my schedule becomes a mess again in the coming months. It just means more writing and less Zurizuri Engine stuff.
Patrons can expect a release to be coming this weekend that will use some of the latest changes, along with new and updated art by Buka Chan.
We hope y’all looking forward to that. ^^
