[Development] Blowing... ...their nose a lot!

Hey y'all,

First some quick news.

Buka Chan is sick with a pretty nasty cold. So they've been doing their best to rest this weekend to recover.

Some workplace "Hero" decided to come in sick and infect a number of people doing a great job at being considerate and is not a total asshole... ...that's sarcasm...

Anyway...

This weekend was mostly prep work for recent decisions and changes we're making. So it's going to be a bit of a boring one.

Project Management

With the size of Paizuri University growing and the amount of different assets we're handling growing too. The need to re-organize how we manage everything needed an update.

So I've spent most of this weekend cleaning up code and restructuring our build process around how we are now handling assets, which has come with workflow improvements for Buka Chan as well.

We no longer have the build everything in Editor every single time we change something, we just have to build what we change through handy dandy new GUI buttons.

Debugging Update

With more systems controlling different parts of Paizuri University, and plenty more to come, being able to quickly test what we're doing and see what's going on internally is becoming even more important.

Our runtime debugging interface is now easily extendable to work with anything new that needs debugging, making it easier to test and check new features without having to screw around a whole lot.

Our ZScript Viewer also received an update. It now fails safely when commands it requires are missing and alerts us to missing script resources that need to be built. Saves us from running the game and finding out something trivial is broken.

Support for 32-Bit Builds

Something that's been asked (about 4 times) is if there is a 32-bit version. It still surprises me that there are people who have 32-bit machines... next someone will be asking me to make it run on XP (running a hentai game on a hospital computer is probably not a good idea...)

Since I was re-structuring everything anyway, it was fairly easy to fit in. We can now build 32-bit versions~!

Visual Novel Mode

I've added Visual Novel mode. When you start a new game you will be asked if you'd like to play in Visual Novel mode. Selecting "No" will start the game in Adventure Mode.

The Save & Load screen will need a slight update to make sure players know what mode their save game is in. It's not entirely important, but little things like that do help.

Adding Prologue & Chapter 1

The Prologue and Chapter 1 are in the process of being added to the Chapter 2 Project. And thanks to the Project Management updates, it's been nice and simple.

I'm going to need to rewrite bits to make the transitions between Chapters feel a bit more natural. Right now it feels like a weird episodic with unnecessary recapping at each chapter.

And that's it!

Lots of boring things to help Buka Chan sleep too...!

This week we're going to get the next build out, which we're aiming to include the Prologue and Chapter 1. It won't have as much art changes compared to a normal release, but there are few new ones to be enjoyed.

Hope y'all looking forward to it~! ^^
