Hello y’all,
Some pretty important changes are in the works. And without beating around the bush too much, let's jump straight in! (It’s long...)
Combining Chapters into a Single Game
Buka Chan and I have been talking about combining all the Paizuri University chapters into a single version for a while now. And with Chapter 3 depending on some decisions you make in Chapter 2, it makes sense to start making that happen.
What does this mean for Paizuri University in general?
This means your decisions can have a longer lasting effect to the overall story, giving us an opportunity to write in more meaningful dialogue and humour.
We’ll also be bringing over the Prologue and Chapter 1 into the project, which means they can be played with all the latest changes as part of a single experience.
This also means we can focus our public audience all into one place, instead of across multiple versions.
Buka chan would also like to fix up some of the art too.
What does this mean for Patrons?
For patrons, we can start giving them more story through additional chapters sooner without the need for waiting on the development of big and new features.
And how are we going to do that? By adding a Visual Novel mode! That’s how!
Visual Novel Mode
We’re adding a Visual Novel mode, which will only focus on the main story of Paizuri University.
Adventure mode (the first person parts) itself, requires more time and a bigger budget to make it as good as we’d like it to be. So to not hold up the whole project because of it, we’ve decided to make it possible to work on them “separately”.
This should keep Paizuri University moving forwards, in terms of it’s chapters, without it being caught up on big features.
How does this change Paizuri University?
The Visual Novel mode only focuses on the main story, and skips the Adventure FPS areas. For example, instead of returning to the Photography Building, it goes straight to the next main story scene where Bill and Kareen… uhhh… take a rest...
Why are we doing this?
The idea here is to not burn ourselves out or tank progress with bigger features, giving us a bit more space to work on the Adventure Mode a little slower and methodically without it being the entire focus of development.
We've opened a pretty big box, with the potential for lots of cools things to happen. But there are also very dangerous development traps inside.
I really crunched on the last release to the point of implosion which really wasn’t fun, and when development isn’t fun, it can affect the overall production and quality of our work.
I know it might sound a little contrived, but in order for the writing to be humorous, spirits need to be high. And crunching like that just isn’t funny… ._.
We’d like to avoid traps like these as much as we can, just so we can maintain a higher level of output with our releases.
And that’s it!
We’re sorry if it seems like we’ve been flip flopping a lot lately. There has just been a whole lot of new things we’ve been trying to do, to make Paizuri University different from just being a Hentai Visual Novel. And we feel compelled to make it happen, but we're learning it can't be rushed.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to leave a comment or talk to us via DM or in the Community section. We’ll happily answer them.
We also want to thank our Patrons. Your contribution has really helped drive us to do bigger and bolder things with Paizuri University to make it special. And your support means a lot to us! So THANK YOU!
