Hello y’all,
This past week I’ve been getting the first quest sorted and ready for this weekends release. I was aiming for a Wednesday release, but we had a few time critical set backs that pushed it back a little.
I also had more time this week then normal, so I challenged myself to see how much I could get done working on all the different pieces.
And here's what I did!

Juliet "Junktion" Character Model
Using Buka Chan's concept art and my 3D model of Kareen as the base. I made the hacker girl, Juliet or "Junktion" as she likes to be known as, in 3D. She still needs a bit of work but she's looking super cute!

Quest Writing
I’m in the process of finalizing the “Computer Troubles” quest. It’s fairly short, but it’s been a lot of fun writing a new character outside of the main story.
I also really like Buka Chan's design for Juliet so I'd like to expand upon her with additional quest parts, like a Computer Troubles #2 quest and maybe even more.
New Areas
I’ve been setting up some of the new areas, along with new props bought off the asset store thanks to your support!
I’ve been modifying them to fit the look and style we’re going for. Here's the Computer Lab with a few of the new props in it (WIP).

Unfortunately some props weren’t “Game Ready” requiring more rework to get their poly counts down and fix some seriously bad modelling issues. Some models were just utterly retarded, so I had to spend most of my time fixing them.
I also experimented with lighting in Unity. Trying lightmap baking using various methods to get different results. I decided against using them and went with just faking lighting effects. Although I might revisit doing a lightmap pass in the future (when there's enough time to do them).
Quest System & UI
Putting the quest system to use in production has helped iron it out, adding support for UI and fixing some oversight with how it should work.
It has also been hooked into Save Game so it can be loaded and saved appropriately. No point starting quests if you can't save their progress.
I also added the Quest Journal screen (WIP) to help keep track of the quests you’re doing and the tasks you need to do to complete them.

NPC System
The NPC system is coming along too. Kareen now follows you! And she’s super cute at it!

Buka Chan and I have been talking about things we'd like to do with the NPC and Quest system, like Quest Markers and NPCs walking around to different areas. I won't be adding them any time soon but I am going to assign some brain power to figuring it out because those are quite big and important to have.
And that's it!
So it's been a busy weekend (I had a long one ^^!).
