[Progress Dump] July!
Added 2017-08-01 08:34:44 +0000 UTCLast month Chapter 2 went through some very big changes, stepping us in the direction of turning Paizuri University into something much bigger.
The downside to this is that we haven't been able to get as many releases out this month, because of all the new feature developments going into Chapter 2.
So to make sure we didn't get stuck on too many ambitious things, we split Chapter 2 in half to help us focus on what we have and what is needed to complete it.
Chapter 2 is now the same length as Chapter 1, which we are finding to be a nice size to work with. And despite the issues we encountered with our ambitions, a whole heap of stuff still got done.

The Zurizuri Engine also received some major upgrades to make the above possible!

- A total UI overhaul. Looks the same, works completely differently.
- Re-written Save / Load, Credits and Gallery Systems.
- Support for higher resolution displays.

- Added Game and Scene state handling - for better control over different areas and types of gameplay.
- General Resource and Build Management improvements.
- Ground work for Map & Overworld support.
- Ground work for NPC and an NPC Creator.

- Lots of bug fixes and general optimizations.
Plans for August
This month Zuri Sama will be working on NPCs and Quests! A fairly tall order, but one that will start really showing what we're trying to do with Paizuri University.
Buka chan will also begin the process of adding Feature Frames for key story scenes, line and color passes on some of the concept art in-game, and adding new character emotion avatars for the story dialogue.
Last month we also missed releasing a public release. Which is something we can't afford to miss. (No public release = No potential growth).
Because of the large amount of new features we've been adding we haven't been able to create a viable public release candidate, at least not without some very heavy handed hacking which can only lead to bad things.
This has also meant our Teaspoon patrons have missed out on a release, which is not acceptable!
So this month we'll be prioritising development around getting the first public release of Chapter 2 to help get that ball rolling.
We'll also be making some adjustments to the Teaspoon reward to make it fair and make sure they don't miss out on a build ever again! We'll be updating everyone on changes for Teaspoon in a follow up post.
With each new chapter we've been experiencing some growing pains, which we are slowly getting used to. But our hopes are that once these new growth spurts in features become "fixed" in nature, we can focus more on just adding more story, art and game-y play using everything we've developed to make Paizuri University what we envision it to be.

We'd like to apologise to our Teaspoon's not receiving a public build like we had hoped (we're fixing that).
