[Development] Zurizuri Engine Upgrade for Chapter 2

Hello everyone!

This post is going to be a little nerd heavy, so feel free to deadpan at your leisure.

The Zurizuri Engine is getting its next major upgrade. Moving from the realms of simple VN engine to VN+3D engine!

For the past month I’ve been learning how to create a more complex scripting language in preparation for Chapter 2 and some important changes. Wrapping my head around how the heck it all works before adding it to Zurizuri has been a bit of an ordeal.

BUT!

This past week, I’ve been integrating a small part of what I’ve learnt from the ordeal into ZScript, adding Variables, Arithmetic and Expressions… 

I know that sounds like the nerdiest thing ever but this is a big deal ok?!

Why?

Because it’s the first step in turning ZScript into a proper scripting language, allowing for more complex behaviour within dialogues and potentially more!

Why not just use C#?

We could, and for performance heavy parts, we have to. 

But for things like dialogue and simple gameplay tracking, using C# can become nightmarish really really quickly (trust me xx). ZScript simplifies that, saving development time and letting me focus all my energy into parts of the game that need the most attention.

If you can’t tell, I’m super excited! Because it means all the games we want to make are so much closer now.
