I was worried that first spike was going to take you out for the rest of the ep ha. But jokes aside, yeah this one was a great way to showcase how even more diverse attacks can be in volleyball. So, a “dink” is another name for a feint. Sort of like how a soft block is sometimes referred to by “one-touch.” Same meaning just different way to say it. As for Hinata’s feint at the end, it wasn’t exactly a feint. He was going for one but then changed it up when he saw that it was going to be blocked. The benefit of having control in the air is the options. There’s a standard spike and feint like you’re familiar with and then there’s some of the more advanced techniques like aiming for a blocker’s hands. In that case depending on how the attacker spikes, they can either force the ball back to their side immediately (like how Bokuto did in during the training camp so that his side could reset and try again) or like how Hinata hit the ball off the blockers finger tips so that it made it through but while also having the added bonus of having the last person who touched it being the blocker. Since, as a reminder, if the ball goes out of bounds, the last person who touched it is the one it counts against. As far as the taped up fingers, it’s more like a preventative in this case. It’s easier to injure fingers for certain positions like setters and even blockers. Oh, and yeah, while the minus tempo is made up, the others are quite real. Although they may be referred to by different names. What makes the minus tempo so special is that it’s essentially asking for the spikes to be in the air before the ball even reaches the setter’s hands. While it’s not technically impossible, trying to pull something like that off in the middle of a game is as close to impossible as impossible can get. Hope that helps and hope you’re getting more and more excited as we get closer and closer to the top. Also, are there any teams you’d like to see Karasuno have a rematch against in the qualifiers?
