Chapter 3: Blood and Fire

A world under siege! The corrupt Republic has launched a massive attack against the planet, Geonosis, and was met with fierce and heavy resistance from the natives and their Separatist allies under the command of the mysterious commander, Lelouch vi Britannia. A massive droid attack has cut off the Republic forces in two and is hammering away at the invaders to ensure their freedom and the future of the Separatist noble cause.

Line Break

Ki-Adi-Mundi silently led his troops through the field, one covered with giant, misshapen metal spikes protruding high from the ground. It was clearly a means to slow down their armor and force them down routes the Separatist had clearly prepared well in advance of their invasion, but he wouldn't fall for it.

Though with only a third of their tanks and half their men dead or wounded, it was much easier for them to navigate through after he cut down those in their direct path on their way to a ridge. If he recalled the area maps correctly, excluding their armor, they could make their way through the caverns to the other side, directing them to the landing zone, which Kenobi's forces were holding on their own. Still, he feared they couldn't hold for long, not when the Separatists had planned for their arrival.

“Captain, perhaps I might ask your opinion on a matter?” Ki-Adi spoke up, his clone captain at his side, watching for potential ambushes as the Jedi cut through the obstacles to allow their tanks passage.

“I’ll try my best to answer, General.” The clone, weary of the situation, replied.

“It’s clear that the Separatists knew we were coming, or at least, understood the importance of this world for their greater efforts against the Republic, so why didn’t they contest us in space?” Ki-Adi asked.

The clone, Captain Jet, would have shrugged if he were less disciplined. "False sense of security, maybe? We had no clue, so we didn't bring any star fighters to handle those blasted Vulture droids.” That seemed like the play to him, and one which they had paid dearly for, as their invasion was in tatters and only slowly pulling itself together without any hope of air support anytime soon.

“Sound logic, and one which has proven its merit thus far, but there are still some holes," K-Adi replied. “If we had suspected the Separatists had prepared for this, we would have delayed operations, which still benefits them. Clone intelligence also confirmed that the plans had not leaked, yet this planet was well defended regardless."

It was, after all, thanks to Senator Clovis's corruption that they even learned that the planet was back in Separatist hands. They had been sure to keep quiet about it till it was too late for their enemies to handle them, as they believed was proven by the fact Anakin's forces intercepted a small droid fighter force instead of a planetary blockade.

Even so, this didn’t track. “It doesn't fit the rationale I've seen in commanders like Grievous or Count Dooku. Or any other known Separatist commander, as this is clearly done by someone who prefers ground battles."

In all their battles and all their intelligence on the Separatists, they had followed the tried-and-true doctrine of planetary denial: Set up blockades and keep the Republic out. When they managed to break through, it often came at immense costs. Even then, as battles like Ryloth and Christophsis showed, those planetary battles would become bloody slug feasts.

Yet, whoever they were, this commander favored the ambush and planetary assault. Was it because they were the Grievous type, and wished to slaughter Jedi in close combat, an arrogant commander who believed they could win without first fighting them in space? Or perhaps it was something else, something more…nefarious.

“You believe it's an unknown?” Jet asked.

“I suspect that there is more to our nameless foe. Perhaps they intend to destroy us in a land battle or force the Republic into another prolonged planetary battle when we're already stretched thin." Ki-Adi replied, as regardless of the way, they were bleeding men and time and needed to fix both, or else this invasion would end in failure.

Line Break

The situation wasn't much better for their air support, as they had been chased far from the ground battle; the idea of offering their comrades aide was more fantasy, their reality was a brutal and chaotic fight for their own hides.

Flying at altitudes well below 500 meters, engines roared, whined, and sputtered over the arid, rocky Geonosian surface, the area they found themselves in dotted with values, outcrops, and buttes, many of which they realized to their frustration hosted hidden Separatist anti-air positions. The Vulture droids making it impossible to ascend to high positions to avoid them, as most who tried were fallen upon and torn apart like wild beasts catching prey.

One of the many squadrons assigned to this invasion fought to stay alive as vulture droids swarmed them like locusts. "Gunner, left-left!" One pilot snapped as his gunner pulled around and fired in the direction, but only managed to graze one Vulture as it zipped by.

“I got 2 on my tail-turret, give me something!” Another pilot yelled as he bobbed and weaved to keep from being shot down by ground fire.

"Working on it, it's not easy with how many they are!" the gunner replied as he focused on his task. He managed to hit one Vulture, the droid exploding, but the second flew straight through the blast, flying on them and hitting their right engine, and where it connected to the rest of the frame. The pilot only got a warning of structural failure before the engine was ripped from their body, and they were sent careening to earth, their screams filling the frantic and confusing radio chatter.

"There's no end to them. How many did the Seppies hide here?" another yelled as they tried to shoot as many as they could, but for each burning droid wreck that tumbled out of the sky or just exploded, it seemed like another one was there to replace it. They didn't fear death or pain; these unthinking machines followed orders to the best of their programming's ability.

If that was to wipe out the Republic Y-wings, then they'll achieve it unless they are wiped out or orders otherwise.

“Breaker—Green Two, break left, break left!” a voice cracks. “Can’t—can’t get the angle!” Green Two pants. “I can’t shake this one—it's…weird,” he breathes over the static, fear thin as wire. That would be the last thing he and his gunner felt as a fighter came screeching from high, gravity and its engines propelling towards the ground like a small rocket.

Locking onto its target, the fighter fired on not one but two Y-wings. One hit exploded, and the second, Green Two, was struck several times and had both engines shear off as the now propulsion-less fighter bomber tumbled into a butte, right under where a Separatist J-1 proton cannon was.

As the clone reported, the fighter was strange. It looked nothing like the Vulture fighters, being much smaller and different in shape. It was a bulky-looking creature-ring tri-fighter. A toothed circular frame cradled the dark, spherical main body with three stubby engine nozzles. Its armament was made of its slender, forward-facing heavy laser cannon and three light laser cannons.

Its 'face' was white, which seemed odd when most droids had red eyes, but when its body was painted blue with yellow and white accents, one probably would look past the 'eyes'.

What most wouldn't know is that this wasn't a droid but a custom starfighter. Inside its compact pilot, Nunnally was having the time of her life as she pulled on her controls, evading enemy fire, tracking the Y-wings, and gunning them down.

Watching her latest kill lose both its engines, she smiled. “What’s the matter? I heard you Republic fighters are some of the best fliers in the Galaxy,” Nunnally laughed as she piloted her Tri-Fighter around some obstacles. “Figures that was Republic Propaganda.”

We have downed an additional 48 Y-Wings. The trap will spring in exactly 11.3 seconds.” One of the Vultures reported, Nunnally nodded before another voice came on the communicator.

Commander.”

“Yes, Timmy?” Nunnally asked. As T-series was such a bland name for a dog, she named it! Timmy seemed to like it…or never complain—but until he did, she would keep calling him Timmy even if she was the only one.

You are to move to the secondary part of the plan.” Timmy relayed her brother's orders, which only elevated her mood more. Oh, sure, she loved flying and being active, but these Y-Wings were lousy dance partners.

“Good, we should have enough power and bombs left for a strafing run. Have our reinforcements ready to take over for us.” She ordered as she pulled back on the stick and increased power, the Gs throwing her back into her seat as she accelerated to speeds no Earth-made mass-produced jet could hope to reach.

“Roger Roger.” Her three squadrons- no, a glance at her skins showed she had lost almost a full squadron. Her two squadrons followed her as they raced high up. Along with them, a squadron of Hyenas came in to conduct their objective. Within minutes, they had broken the atmosphere and saw it on their sensors: the Republic force in orbit, some of their ships still smoking from damage.

Yularen saw them coming as well, as their scanners picked them up. They couldn't afford to lose more down a Venator and a cruiser, so he immediately called for their guns to pick out targets and fire. The droids zipped on past them, planning their assault from an elevated position so the Hyenas could conduct their bomb runs, but they wouldn't let it be so easy. The Republic ships threw up a barrage.

Nunnally, despite this, she evaded their anti-air fire, zipping in and out, back and forth, as her tiny little star fighter was like a fly they could hear but never see and thus never hit. She picked out one of the ships, a cruiser, and made a beeline for it, commanding the rest to focus on it. It was towards the rear of the formation, already damaged and too juicy a mark to avoid.

As the ship fired on her, she returned it, expertly landing shots from her heavy laser canon, peppering it. She made sure to target its cannons, firing as many times as she could, smiling as she saw smoke rising from two of them as she finally broke away.

"Intensify deflector shields," Yularan called out as the ship shook, minor explosions occurring around them.

"The Hyena is coming in for a bombing run!" one of the crew called out as he saw the flying in. The darn things would be on them any moment now.

"Focus all fire on those bombers, " he called out. The vultures could be ignored; they didn't have the firepower to do serious damage, at least not like those Vulture droids.

“We can’t, the Vultures are acting as shields, taking out flak fire!” True to their word, the Vultures formed around the Hyena, continuing to fire on the Republic ships and taking their return fire, leading to many being blown to pieces. However, it did its job, allowing the Hyenas to get closer.

“That’s it?” Nunnally wasn't part of this, as she had no reason for it. Instead, she watched the action as she continued to assault the wounded Acclamator-class with some of their reinforcements, landing attacks that continued to eat away at the vessel.

A hologram of one of the Venators was presented to her side inside the cramped cockpit.

Correct, that is Anakin Skywalker’s flagship," Timmy relayed to her, which made her incredibly giddy. She had heard all about Anakin; he was a legend, tall, handsome, and charismatic.

Deceitful, untrustworthy, and violent. He was the Republic's Grievous, and she so wanted to be the one who humbled him.

“Well, let’s see if we can’t leave it in flames, squads 3 and 5 on me, protect those Hyenas so they can deliver their payloads!” Nunnally changed her mind, breaking from their assault and limping Acclamator-class and making a break for the Venator in question, adding to its problems as it was being attacked from 2 directions, one being limited to fire from half their guns.

“They’re closing!” One of the Venetor’s bridge crew called out as Vulture started to crash into their hull, but did little damage as they worked to protect the bridges.

“Where are our Y-wings?” Yularan yelled, as they couldn’t sustain this much longer.

"They were lured into a trap. We've lost 40% already; they'll never make it back. We can't pull any more, they're already engaged." His second in command informed him, adding that other squadrons across the planet were either engaged or too far to get to them in time.

Then the alarm sounded as the Hyenas finally made it. “All hands, brace for impact!” He and his second in command braced against the holo projector as the bombs were launched from the Hyenas and hit their mark, crashing into their hull and exploding. Their shields did their jobs and negated most impacts, but some areas failed. These giant holes were blown into their ship, leading to air being sucked into the vacuum, dragging along anyone who was in those damaged sections.

It wasn't just them who were hit. To their side, another Star Destroyer suffered even worse blows as several bombs pierced their hunger, allowing more to fly into the gaps and explode from within. That toppled with a bomb hitting the bridges as the ship started to tilt before it finally broke apart, its massive burning sections falling out of orbit and towards the planet below.

“We lost another star destroyer and Cruiser!” Yularen was barely getting his balance as he got the reports, as the Acclamator-class Nunnally had been slowly weakening and had also gone down, bombs and a vulture droid ramming into its bridge, doing them in.

“Engine power has dropped 32%!” Someone yelled as alarms sounded for a compromised engine.

"We have reports of fires breaking out across 4 decks. Fire suppression teams are en route!"

"Our hangar has been hit; it's been knocked out till they can handle the chaos."

“Propulsion, do we still have propulsion?” Yularen demanded as enemy fighters kept zipping around them, their weakening anti-air capabilities allowing more to get through and fight more boldly.

“Yes, Admiral.” One of his men confirmed.

"Then get every ship out of here. We'll jump to a nearby system to conduct emergency repairs and contact outer rim command, " he ordered as their ships continued to be fired on.

“And the landing force?” His second asked, as it was already risky to ascend to low orbit.

Yularen almost growled, but professionalism won out as he shook his head. “Regretfully, they’ll be on their own.” He just hoped General Skywalker and the rest could hold on that long.

At his orders, the rest of the ships turned. While under heavy Separatist attack, they limped around and, one by one, jumped out of the system. Nunnally was vibrating in glee in her cockpit, its small space a perfect fit for her size, as she contacted her brother. “Brother, did you see that?”

Lelouch came on, looking pleased with his baby sister. “I did, little sister, but don’t get so caught up in the fun that you forget your place in the plans.”

“Come on, I'm not a little kid anymore. You should take me more seriously," Nunnally complained as Lelouch went over this with her and the rest at least four times.

You say that," Oh, she already knew where he was going with this on account of that damned smirk. "But then you crawl into that tiny little cockpit, they could have made it larger, but you wanted it fast, and you're just the perfect gremlin size for it.”

“Small doesn’t mean little!” Nunnally yelled, stomping her feet as the yellow in her eyes pulsed with fury, but her brother was never scared of it, as she was never scared of him. “Forget it, I’m going to lead the fight to wipe out those stupid Y-Wings.”

Lelouch’s joking mode vanished like a drop of blood in a fire. “You will do no such thing; you're already down precious Hyenas and Vultures. You're to return, recharge, and then join the bombardment of the enemy forces at point M-8. We believe Kenobi is there.”

“Obi-Wan?” Nunnally repeated, her angry mood forgotten as she cracked a large smile. First that brute, Anakin, and now the false surrenderer Obi-Wan? Oh, today was just full of fun times. “Oh, you should have led with that, brother. All forces, pull back to base, let the Republic dogs run.” She ordered as she piloted her unit back to her staging grounds on the planet, her forces following suit.

She didn't know it, as they hadn't cracked the Republic's encryption being used for this particular operation, but the Republic's communications were filled with confusion, panic, and anger at the loss of their ships. Those Y-wings still in the air now had limited time in the air, and even if they could land, no one was coming to refuel or rearm them.

Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ki-Adi all got the rushed word from the Admiral about the situation and his decision to pull back before they lost more ships to the Separatists. They were on their own, without proper armour, heavy guns, or air support, and Anakin wondered how long they could hold out. Even if they reached Obi-Wan's position, they might exhaust their munitions in the process or get bombed.

Line break

Things were deteriorating quickly. Ki-Adi had just reached the mountain and its caverns when word came from the Admiral of their retreat from the sector. Now, it was imperative that they linked up with the rest. It was their only chance at forming a strong enough resistance that they could hold out until the Jedi Council and Republic could divert the necessary aid to help them.

He would just have to place his faith in the men he left to guard their tanks, his fellow Jedi, and their forces until they could find them. Entering the cave, the Jedi used his lightsaber as a light source and held it ready. The natives lived primarily underground and no doubt would have traps in such a position where they held the advantage. His men were similarly cautious; they hadn't so much as seen a droid or native since they were shot down, but in many ways, it only made them all the more paranoid that when they did, it would be messy.

“Wait,” Jet paused, his hand to the side of his helmet. “I’m picking up wing vibrations up ahead.”

“So am I, no way it’s just a few.” Another of the clones confirmed it, as they could tell the buzzing was getting louder.

"Spread out and watch the shadows; we're in their territory," KI-Adi ordered as his men did just that, the Jedi taking the front as they all scanned their surroundings. Now, they could all hear the buzzing of wings but couldn't see anything, and just as it seemed like they'd appear, silence.

There was silence for moments that stretched on for what felt like years. Right as the first clone lowered his rifle, just a little, they heard the battle cry of Geonosians as they came flying in and fell on one of the Clones. The soldier screamed as he tried to fight them off, but 2 grabbed him and took off back into the darkness. The rest fired on, where they took their comrade but hit nothing as more appeared.

It seemed like, for whatever reason, they weren't firing on them but trying to take them on in close quarters. That gave the clones some breathing room, as even while some others got grabbed and whisked off, the rest could fend off the attack, at times shooting the Geonosian attacker off their comrade while their Jedi general cut through their enemies with single swings, cutting them in two or just going for their necks, granting them quick deaths.

As he drove his lightsaber through the back of the last one, he pulled back and let the tripped soldier pick himself back up. The clone thanked Ki-Adi for saving him as the Jedi pointed deeper into the cave. "Don't stop. We must push on, forward!"

“Real smart,” Another voice came up, this one sounding nothing like the natives, and with it came a different sound. It sounded like a jet-pack-rounding one of the stalactites came a new figure, one dressed in armor similar to theirs-

Only it was shades of pink, white, and blue. And in her hands she held 2 strange blasters. “But it implies we’ll let you through!” Catherine joked as she swung her blasters, the weapons modified to have vibro blades attached under the barrels, which cut into 2 clones.

The dead men hadn't even dropped before she was on the move again, wheels on her armor skirts, and attached to the sides of her boots, propelling her back as she darted between the rock columns, evading their fire and lashing out at them.

“What the!” one of the Clones yelled as they fired, peppering that part of the cave with blaster fire. Catherine was just evading all of it, and what she couldn't, she hid behind her cover. The dust and smoke from the shorts hit rock, making it harder to see her.

“Who the heck is that?” Someone else asked, only to be shot in the shoulder and fall on his back, reaching for his wound as the medic rushed in and pulled him to safety.

“Just shot 'em, she’s a seppie!” Jet called out as he didn’t even know a droid could move like that, was she a commando droid under the armour?

“A little help would be nice, boys! A girl can’t have all the fun!” Catherine called as Ki-Adi rushed her. The girl fired her blasters at him to try to keep him back, as she knew her vibro blade would be toast if she clashed with him. Still, he was blocking and deflecting her shots right back at her, one nearly hitting her and instead striking her skirt.

From the ceiling, a second person appeared. Kallen, who had been watching things, decided it was her time to act. So, she pulled both her lightsabers out and activated them, one blue and the other red, lightsaber tonfas. With a push off the wall, she swung her blades, and as she landed, three clone heads fell from their bodies.

She didn’t linger, as not even a moment later, she was on the move, shearing through the shocked and unprepared Clones as more Geonosians moved to back up the 2 human girls.

“Did you forget about me?” Kallen asked Catherine as she blocked 3 blaster shots with one side and killed another Clone with the other.

“Nope!” Catherine joked. Lucky for her, the Jedi realized who the bigger threat was and pulled back to engage Kallen.

“Bitch…” Kallen muttered as she turned to face the Jedi. It was her first Jedi fight since she got involved in this madness along with Lelouch and the others. But she didn't mind.

Empire or Republic, Jedi or Britannian, she hated them all, just for different reasons. If the old big head wanted to fight, then she'd fight.

“Take them down!” Jet called as he rallied his men; he was lucky he hadn't been killed by that crazy force user, but the same couldn't be said for 11 of them, cutting their numbers by a quarter.

Numbers which would continue to drop as the bugs were coming out of every corner now as they pushed deeper into th cave, at times strange green blasters, red blasters they got from the Seppies and the blue of their own being the only thing lighting up the place, losses on both sides mountain as the Geonosian fought like they had nothing to lose and either blasted or charged them to maul or fly them off to kill later, out of sight of their comrades.

“Cover me, cover me!” Jet and his men ensured they wouldn't go down easily.

“You're not Ventress," Ki-Adi commented, as this one didn’t look like Ventress, though she dual-wielded like her. Perhaps it was a requirement for those who worked under their fallen Jedi knight, Dooku.

“I’m not Dooku’s lap dog, so don’t worry,” Kallen replied, almost as if she could read his thoughts as she got ready, both weapons at the ready as the wounded Jedi gripped his blade in both hands, taking a breath to handle the pain from his wounds. “He’s not taking credit for your death.”

"You'll first need to take it before you can make such claims, child," Ki-Adi warned as Kallen rushed him. Her blade struck against his block, which he kept up as she tried to push him, finding a weak spot in his defense to strike a fatal blow.

As the two dueled, blaster fire threw sharp staccato illumination of red, green, and blue across calcified walls as clones formed a ragged line against Geonosian swarms. Ki-Adi stood half turned as he fought against her, favoring his right side, Kallen immediately suspecting injury from being shot down, but she was frustrated by his refusal to allow her to exploit her. His fighting style was patient and built on defense and counters, which she was familiar with. Still, she could admit, if bitterly, that he was the better of the two thanks to his decades of training.

Just like her, he was also aware of his surroundings as Catherine butted him, zipping in and out of cover with that fancy suit of hers, and taking pot shots at the Jedi General. However, he would fold his blocks of her blaster bolts and direct them to Kallen and their Geonosian allies.

Kallen closed the gap and went for precise, surgical strikes with as little motion as possible to prevent her opponent from creating an opening she could exploit against her. Again, the Jedi was proving himself the better, but that was fine.

She had more tricks up her sleeve. If she couldn't beat him on raw skill, she'd overwhelm him with speed and unpredictability, which she went for as she started to jump around. Using the stalactite and thicker natural stone columns, she moved in ways his older body would struggle with, even with the force aiding them both. She spun her two lightsabers to turn defense into offense, blocks into counters from all angles.

Her last swing came in hard and heavy, which KI-Adi managed to block. "You're good, I see how you've lasted this long," Kallen grunted as she found the old man wasn't so weak that his defense didn't buckle under the weight of her swing.

"A Jedi's worth is more than their fighting ability," Ki-Adi retorted, forcing her back as Kallen back flipped to prevent falling on her butt. "Though I've found it helps in situations like this."

Kallen frowned, feeling angry but clamping down on it, using it as fuel but not letting it blind her. She had to fight smart, not strong, here. Seeing a chance, she rushed him, low to the ground, before she flicked both lightsabers in the dirt and swung upwards, sending heated rock and sand into the Jedi's face. He closed his eyes and used the force to keep a feel for the environment, but it didn’t stop Kallen from landing a kick to his wounded side.

Ki-Adi grunted but retaliated as fast, nearly cutting Kallen's leg from the knee.

"Bring in the Flame throwers!" The Jedi called out as some Clones who hadn't been fighting ran to the front, each carrying a weapon Kallen recognized for what it was.

The clones unleashed it, spraying the cave and its fighters with a flammable liquid that had been lit before it touched them. Catherine dived for cover, but many Geonosian allies weren't so lucky. They screamed in agony as the flames consumed them.

But moments later, the flames seemed to freeze, before they were ripped off the burnt dead and wounded, drawn towards Kallen, who stood with a hand raised. She made the flames dance around her with little more than her fingers.

“Just when I thought you Jedi couldn’t get any lower,” Kallen seethed as she pulled the flame into a smaller sphere, condensing it till it glowed like an orange sun hovering above her palm. “Well, too bad for you, because if there is one thing I love seeing, it's seeing you all burn!"

She unleashed the fire back onto them, only she had amplified it greatly. The flames didn't just spread; they crashed into the cave walls and pillars like waves of an ocean. Clones caught in it screamed as the flames coated and burned them like magma. Even the flame troopers found their gear no match for flames this intense, this angry, and ravenous. Ki-Adi used the force as well, creating a bubble to protect as many of his men as he could.

“Take cover-!” A blue lightsaber pierced his stomach through to his back. Gasping in disbelief, he looked down and saw Kallen had closed the distance, even though it meant rushing through her supercharged fire, and yet, she didn't have a burn on her.

“Looks like I can take your life,” Kallen hissed at him as she slowed them enough that he ended up kneeling. As she pulled her lightsaber free, Kallen looked to her side, where Catherine was pocking out of cover. “Finish them off. I don’t want a single Clone left standing!”

“Got it.” Ki-Adi-Mundi would only have the chance to hear that before Kallen pulled some flames that lingered in her hand and thrust them at his face, burning the man to the bones in less than 10 seconds. All that remained of him was his lightsaber, which she looked at but left where it was.

She’ll leave the weird collection habits to the cyborg.

Line Break

Another day, another chapter, which might be a first for me. As I worked on a chapter for A New Britannia yesterday, and would need to work on one tomorrow, I never had a moment where I had this many CG stories on the docket.

Now, as we saw in the last chapter, we’re starting with the second Battle for Geonosis. It had a pretty rough start for the Republic, which assumed that it would go just like the first time and paid for that in blood, but it's not over yet. I planned for this to be three chapters long, and I intend to stand by it, so this chapter would cover the middle portion, and the next would cover the conclusion of things.

A question was asked about what a character was doing in the last chapter, and I think this chapter will probably explain it.

Line Break

…on the bright side, Ki-Adi doesn't live long enough for his men to have the chance to gun him down. And yes, this was the foreshadowing I talked about earlier, as Kallen played with the lighter in the last chapter. She has a thing with flames. She's incredibly proficient in using force to create and manipulate them, but she also has other things to do with it, which will be explained in the future.

Catherine is wearing a suit of armor that is based on Mandalorian armor, which was also the basis for Clone armor, hence why the Clones assumed it was based on theirs. As for why they thought she was a droid, it's not like the CIS has many humanoid fighters in their ranks, and her armor has been augmented to have similar features to her knightmare in Rose, which was why she could move like that. That isn't normal, possible, but not normal in Star Wars, so they just assumed she was a new type of commando.

Lastly, Nunna…Nunna's isn't the same girl she is in cannon, as she and Lelouch are different thanks to their experience, case in point, she's something of a battle junkie. She's also a bit on the small side, hence why she could fit in the Tri-fighter, which wasn't too modified from its standard size.
