It's perfectly fine for pirates to be hanged — even and especially as corpses, because the message is: "Pirates will be hanged."

Pirates get hanged for their crimes... would have been more effective if they weren't already dead, but oh well, Fawn got what she wanted, and you did a mighty fine job for her. I enjoyed the story and loved your illustrations and hard work. I too am one who missed this on the old FN site, so this was a wonderful surprise. Thank you for sharing it here.
