242 - Interview

The number of players in Minecraft, Fortnite and ESW dropped by at least 50% because of the Need For Speed launch event.

Players realized that if they added friends to Oasis and entered Need for Speed, they would be sent to their friends' lobby.

With this realization, players began to arrange to race together, or chase bad guys together, or worse, players began to chase their friends for fun in a very entertaining competition.

While players were having fun in the virtual world, news channels were reporting on the new Oasis game.

Seeing that this could lead to something interesting, Alex had a naughty idea and decided to log into Oasis using his [A] account.

"Today the world of Oasis was rocked by the 'Illegal Event' in Need for Speed, where players compete for U$10,000,000 in a virtual bank robbery. The event began with a mysterious man inviting players to enter a digital New York through portals, but only if they drove a car.

Once inside, players were given detailed missions as getaway drivers in bank robberies, competing for points that put them on a leaderboard. Real cash prizes included $5 million for first place, $2 million for second, and $1 million for third!

Designed to heighten the emotion and realism of the event, it has already attracted millions of players and countless streamers, taking the game to new levels of popularity. The competition continues as players race against time and each other to win the prizes.

But don't worry, being a criminal isn't the only way to win the prize money. Players can choose to be a cop or a crook, and both have an equal chance of winning the prize!

A beautiful reporter held a microphone while recording from inside the Oasis in one of the Car Meets next to the huge line of players trying to get through the portal.

But while all the players were desperately trying to get into the portal, one player was calmly walking along the line, analyzing the cars.

Seeing a good opportunity, the reporter ran up to the player and asked.

"Hi Player, we're live on CBS News, could you answer a few questions?"

Upon hearing the question, the Player was surprised and looked at the camera with a smile, showing his pointed teeth as he ran his hand through his white hair.

"Sure!" He laughed.

"Okay, I noticed you're in no hurry to get into the portal, is there a reason?" She asked curiously.

Smiling, he nodded. "Yes, I actually discovered a secret portal and I'm waiting to go through it."

Hearing this, the reporter became suspicious. "A secret portal? How come no one has discovered this portal yet?"

"Because it's a place that players don't usually visit very often." He explained.

Sensing an opportunity for some hot news, even if it was fake, the reporter asked.

"Can you tell us where this secret portal is?"

Her question drew the attention of the thousands of people watching the game, and the number of viewers grew by the second as they waited for the player's answer.

"Yeah, I guess someone will find out soon enough anyway. Let me get my car first so I can get ready to go to the portal." He said as he walked down the next street, the reporter following him curiously, taking advantage of the fact that the crowd was rising nonstop.

Arriving at the slightly emptier street, Player called out a yellow Nissan GTR R35, surprising the reporter, who had never seen such a beautiful car in the Oasis, and giving him even more credibility.

With the microphone pointed at the window of his car, the reporter waited patiently for his tip.

And he didn't disappoint.

"Just as players can enter the world of Need for Speed through a car meet to do illegal actions, if you want to become a policeman directly, you can go through the police station." He laughed as he accelerated the car, leaving the reporter surprised.

"Guys, we've just received news that there might be a secret portal in the Hub police stations!" She said as she held out her hand, summoning her pink car. "To check it out, I'm going to the nearest police station to see if there really is a portal there!"

As she said this, the number of viewers on the CBS channel increased steadily, causing the executives to smile broadly.

And when she arrived at the police station and saw the big golden portal with no line, she didn't think twice and drove her car into the portal, becoming the first reporter to get a seat in Need for Speed.

Seeing the reporter promoting these portals, Alex smiled and waited for the players to flood these portals as well.

Just as he had imagined, the players arrived in no time and in less than 10 minutes the queue at the police station portals was as long as the queue at the Car Meets portals.

The popularity of the game was skyrocketing and Alex was delighted to see how successful it was becoming.

Within an hour of the event, tens of millions of players across the dozens of Car Meets and Police Stations in the 70+ hubs had picked up the game and were trying it out.

From the data collected by Oasis, Alex was pleased to see that the retention rate of the game was high and the enjoyment rate of the players was also very high.

This was a great indication that the game would be very successful when it was released.

And when he looked at the rankings, he was surprised to see that [Silver] was in first place, [Cyclops] was in second, and [Steve] was in third!

Seeing that Scott was in second place, Alex decided to watch him, and noticed that instead of flying alone, Scott was flying with Kurt as his co-pilot, with an extra pair of eyes on the map and around, and they used this advantage to close the gap in their score with Silver, while Steve was sweating it out to catch as many bandits as possible!

Any current plans to continue?

Is this this still going on or dropped?

Lucas Panzenboeck

Maybe there should be a Mario kart version for the kids in the oasis or for people who just want to do casual style racing.

I just read 242 chapters in three days. I’m quite in love with this story. It’s one of my new favorites. If this Patreon has a chat option, I would love to talk video games or different worlds for the oasis. Can’t wait for more!
