18 - Talent Show

The rest of the day went by as usual.

I did the things I normally did, I trained my Krav Maga, I drew to earn my $100 a day, I worked out with Ethan and Olivia.

After all this my Skills changed a little.

[Krav Maga Mastery Lv 9 -> Lv 10]

With Krav Maga at Lv 10 I was already much more confident when using the martial art. The difference from level 9 to level 10 is as if before I had trained for 1 year with insecurity and being a practiced amateur, and then I was someone who trained for 1 year with a lot of fighting experience.

Even though level 10 is as if I had only trained for a few months longer, it is as if the quality of those past training sessions had been increased, completely improving the quality of how I fought and trained.

Sure, I was still at level 10, it's not like I was a professional fighter now, but I was already at a point where I could safely defend myself on the street.

[Teach Lv 16 -> Lv 17]

As I was also helping Ethan and Olivia with their training, my Teach Skill went up a level, which was very useful, as with this I could better help my family with the things I knew.

This greatly increased the usefulness of me learning things faster, since with System I could learn things faster, and with Skill Teach I could teach the things I know to my family more easily and quickly.

Looking at her cell phone, I was surprised that there was actually a presenter watching a presentation with two other judges on a call on a program like Discord and an audience of 3 thousand people watching.

It wasn't a very large audience, but considering that they were doing an open talent show like this, and that the people participating probably didn't have any talent, it was understandable.

The stream was apparently relying on jokes from the judges making fun of people performing.

"Cool." I said as I handed her cell phone back and looked up at the sky again.

"Are you not interested in participating?" She asked confused.

"I don't know, I don't know if I would get a place, there must be a lot of people applying, right?" I asked while looking at her.

"Let me see here…" She said as she fumbled with her cell phone and looked for it. In a few seconds she got the answer. "They have a queue room on their Discord, there are only 20 other people in the queue, there's time for you to participate!"

Hearing this, I became thoughtful.

"The prize is a $2,000 microphone." She said something crucial.

Hearing this I quickly got up from the grass and went to take my shower. "I'm going to take a shower, send me the link to this server and this Stream, I'm going to participate!"

"Okay!" She said excitedly as she sent me the links.

As I ran to the bathroom, thankful that Ethan was already done taking his shower, I tried to mentally ask System a question.

'System, if I sing another out-of-this-world song on this talent show, will that count as my second released song?' I asked worriedly, since I didn't know if a sad song would go well on this stream where they were making jokes.

I think I would look more like an Edge Kid trying to look cool if I were to sing a sad and serious song on this talent show, the idea would be if I also sang a funny song to fit in.

Seeing this I was satisfied and accelerated my bath.

My shower only lasted 5 minutes and I was already tuning my guitar while waiting for my turn in line to perform.

From what I was seeing, the host of this talent show was a streamer of a game like CraftMine from my previous world, but because he was bored with his friends, he decided to host the show within the game.

Each participant joined their Discord server and waited for their turn.

When their turn arrived, the server Admins sent the link to the world the streamers were in so they could introduce themselves and use their characters as an avatar.

Fortunately, the old Noah already had an account in this game, so I wouldn't need to buy another account.

The problem was just the account's Nickname and Skin.

I didn't have time to make another skin for my character, and the anime girl skin in a maid outfit wasn't my style, so I just turned the account skin back to the Standard skin and changed the account nickname to BlackVelvet.

When I finished configuring all of this, I received a message from one of the server Admins with the link to the server they were on.

Entering the server, I was in a waiting room, with another Player with me, who was probably next in line also waiting to introduce themselves.

I already had everything ready, so while I was practicing how I was going to play this song on the guitar, I watched the stream.

"Hey Quacktus, his imitation of you looks very similar!" One of the jurors said laughing.

"Don't joke about that! This has nothing to do with me!" Quacktus laughed as he pressed a red button, eliminating that participant.

"I liked the imitation he did of Guapo, he gets a yes from me!" another streamer laughed as he pressed the green button, leaving the decision of whether to continue to the last streamer.

"Wait, can I tell a joke to get your vote?" The contestant asked desperately.

"Hmm… you can try!" The last streamer saw that this would generate more content and didn't refuse.

"Ehh… I'm not sure if my girlfriend is satisfied with my body… but… a small part of me says yes." He said nervously.

"Pfftt… hahaha!" Hearing this plot twist at the end, the Streamer broke down and started laughing a lot while pressing the green button.

"Congratulations, with that joke you got a place in the voting phase." The streamer said amid laughter. "Now let's move on to our next competitor."

As soon as he said that, the other Player in the waiting room came in and surprisingly he sang a song relatively well.

If I had to put a level on his Sing Skill, I would say he was at level 11, it wasn't a bad level, but it was far from impressing others.

The worst thing is that he was singing with such certainty that people were liking him singing, but I was reading the comments and I was getting embarrassed.

Not even the Streamers could take it and quickly pressed the red button.

"I can't take it anymore, please call the next candidate!" Quacktus shouted as he pressed the red button over and over again.

While he pressed that, I entered the stage with my avatar and an Admin put me in the Discord call they were on.

"Hello candidate, who are you?" Quacktus asked.

"I'm BlackVelvet, or BV for short." I responded calmly.

"Okay BV, what are you going to do today? Don't tell me you're going to sing…" Guapo asked in a dramatic way.

"I'm sorry to inform you, but I really came to sing…" I said, also exaggerating a little.

This public reaction was also mirrored among the Streamers, I could see on their facecam that they also didn't want to hear anyone else sing, but to maintain decorum, they let me sing.

"Okay BV, you'll have a chance. But if your music is bad we'll kick you out, okay?" Quacktus asked.

"No fuss." I replied relaxedly.

"Okay, what song are you going to sing?" Guapo asked.

"I'm going to sing an original song, which I wrote when I was really lazy, the name of the song is 'The Lazy Song'." I said.

"The Lazy Song? That sounds interesting." Quacktus said excitedly as he sat up better in his chair and prepared to listen.

Just hearing the name of the song, you could at least imagine that this wouldn't be a song where this candidate would try to look hot, right?

"You can start, BV!" The third streamer, Phill, said feigning excitement.

Before I started singing, I started playing my guitar with the rhythm of the original song from my other world.

As this rhythm was lively and a bit comical, I saw on camera that they really got interested, even the audience started sending more interested emojis instead of the vomit emojis they were sending before.

"Today, I'm feeling quite lazy, it's true…

Surprisingly, when I asked them to sing the chorus with me, I thought maybe only one of them would sing, but all three started singing together!

This reaction from the live audience was really cool, I'm excited for when I get to do a real show...
