I remember being in Jr. High and watching this episode live with my mom. We both were shocked it was a flash-forward at the end. This was one of those plot twists people were talking about for DAYS after this aired!

And of course, lots of tears on Charlie's death, as expected. I cried a lot myself.
Now I'm wondering how will certain future scenes effect you. There are certainly more tears to come in the future...

Oh boy, was I hyped for your reactions to these episodes!
Trust me, I was as confused as you were when I watched these. I literally had to look up an explanation. But when I read, it was a flash forward - boy was my mind blown!
But yes, indeed. These were Flash Forwards.
The name of the funeral place was an anagram for "Flash Forward".
Jack talking about his dad was just him being in such a low point in his life, he is going crazy. That, and all the alcohol / drugs having an effect on him
But the biggest thing for you to take away from the ending is this: they do leave the island.
BUT:
Leaving the island, the thing that was the biggest goal of the series up to this point, is NOT the endgame.

2) The big twist wasn't just the flash forward though. It was also Jack. From episode 1, he desperately wanted to get off the island and get his friends off the island. In the episode, he literally risked Sayid, Jin, and Bernard getting shot just to get off. And he was willing to let John shoot him just to lead his friends off the island. That's why it's so shocking that Jack, OF ALL PEOPLE, is depressed and wants to go back to the island. It's very unexpected.

1) lol. Let me clear that up for ya Red. The writers were tricking the audience into thinking that it was a flashback-the past. But, in reality, it was a flash forward-the future. They tricked us by bringing back his ex wife Sarah. The line where Jack mentions his father is due to the fact that he was super drunk and full of drugs. The line is used to add to the trick of you thinking that you were watching a flashback.
