After Bobby befriends a plucky, pie eating raccoon named Bandit, Dale goes from regular crazy to rabies crazy after a run-in with this tiny beast leaves him with a possible infection. Will Hank and Dale's friendship survive after the latter nearly stabs his childhood friend (and his son) to death with a pocketknife?

2025-09-20 21:58:41 +0000 UTCAs someone that loves Raccoons I have to chime in just to say I absolutely loved the animation and sound work on Bandit, and Bobby's special connection with him. It's a shame the poor dude had to die in the end, but it of course would've been much sadder if they lost Ladybird too. I read To Kill a Mockingbird in 10th grade (which was... 13 years ago now), and will I did appreciate and enjoy it then, the rabid dog bit was something that had almost completely left my memory until listening to this podcast, so it didn't even fully register that this sequence and Bobby's journey in the episode were the reason the title was in reference to the novel. The stuff that really sticks out to me from the novel still to this day are of course how it touches upon racism and white supremacy with the case Atticus takes on, his attitude about still having to fight to do the right thing even if you know you'll probably lose, and the weird stuff with Boo Radley.
