Talking Simpsons - Co-Dependents' Day With Eric Szyszka

"My drinking problem is out of control. At Oktoberfest, all I could think about was beer! I couldn't even celebrate... the harvest!" - Marge Simpson

After the newest Cosmic Wars prequel inspires Bart and Lisa to seek fan justice, a trip to wine country rejuvenates Homer and Marge's relationship with the power of alcohol. But when Homer frames Marge for a DUI, he has to decide what he loves most: his wife, or not being arrested.

With my work travel, I’m fulfilling my dream of visiting MLB games across the country as well! Tonight is a Pittsburgh Pirates game. As a Mets fan, I have to agree with Eric about Citi field, they have been rated #1 for the best food options 2 years in a row. My wife is from the Cleveland area and we’ve enjoyed it every time we’ve been there, especially when we ran the Cleveland half marathon a few years ago!

I always pronounced AT-AT as the letters since it is an initialism. Whenever I hear someone say "ath ath" I always think of it in the voice Colonel Gentleman from The Venture Bros

I don't know if boomer parents were less interested in introducing their pop culture loves to their kids, or if it was just a matter of availability. VCRs were expensive and buying movies also not cheap back in the 80s. I got hooked on Star Wars in a manner I'm guessing many did by virtue of it being on television one summer night. My dad caught The Empire Strikes Back on some channel and insisted I'd enjoy it if I watched it with him, so that was my intro (I thought Vader was a blatant rip-off of The Shredder - stupid kid) and I thought it was pretty damn cool. We rented The Return of the Jedi that week so I could finish the story, but I actually never saw the original Star Wars until it too aired on network television sometime later (probably years). Then I got into the books, the Kenner toy line with hunky Luke, and was there day one for the Special Edition in theaters. And now I'm a prequel hating elder millennial as God intended. I don't know if I ever saw this episode before now. I remember the Star Wars bits so I think I've seen it, but probably didn't watch it in an active manner, but damn is this awful. If this episode had come along closer to the "golden era" of the show I think it would be more infamous than some of the other often cited worst episodes ever. It's so slow to get to the conflict and then doesn't do anything with it. I'm as sick of a Homer and Marge have marital problems plot as the next guy, but if you're going to make Homer do something this awful then that's pretty much the only direction the episode can go with aside from him just plain getting away with it. Is this my new least favorite episode? It just might be.
