There was a lot of push-pull with this idea. Of course the orangutan in the hammock came to me first and it was a matter of getting it into a comic. Originally the idea was a guy dreaming of the scene, then waking up and getting ready for work, which felt too simple. I’m especially conscious of making each individual panel interesting in some way— not necessarily complex or difficult to draw, but if it’s simple it should be funny in its simplicity. The guy dreaming in bed seemed too flat and uninspired in my minds eye, so I reframed the setup to take place in a train. Good practice for me with the shading and colors too.
