Swamp Assets

Hey folks! We've got a lot of posts going live this coming week, but until then what better way to celebrate this holiday of romance than a lively swamp discussion! Per this last week's poll a swamp theme edged out the other contenders for our next public assets pack theme. Like our previous sets, I'd like to open up a workshop space here for you all to reply/comment with ideas and suggestions for what you'd like to be included in said pack. 

As a baseline, here's the battle map I did for Baba Lysaga's Hut, really the only swamp-esque map I've ever done frankly. This gives you a bit of an idea of how I've approached the theme previously, and here is a quick summary of what I'd plan to include as of right now:

Those are the ones I want to do for sure, other ideas include things like faded, large puddles of water (to layer on top of grass textures), giant lily pads, wooden boardwalks for swamp settlements, etc. But I want to hear what you think!

I'm sure you'd include a couple of ponds, but it would be nice to also have a generic water texture so people can combine it with the wetlands one to create their own waters.

Mist/fog that is somewhat transparent and that can be grouped together with other mist/fog shapes to (partially) cover/obscure different areas (for e.g. low-lying areas where the mist might collect). Or mist that might radiate from a creature or object that moves over time.

You mentioned roots, but I would love to see Cypress knees in particular (which have their own distinct look)

Will definitely be including reeds, logs, and boardwalks; I'll play around with existing road assets and see if there's a way to alter them to make them behave in the way you're describing. I feel like the thatch roof or wooden roof assets will be good here for a 'swamp town'!

I love the idea of transitional textures! I'd love if half of it could be transparent so that it's not just for forest > swamp. You could transition from anything. I love the idea of little swampy areas along the coastline and near estuaries.

Currently running Against the Cult of the Reptile God, so... Some sort of half-submerged "path" A half-submerged temple of sorts Trees partially submerged Variants - Stagnant water; oily water Variants - Dark to colorful marshy plants

Looking forward to this one! Here’s some ideas -swamp gas bubbles -small clumps of reeds as well as larger areas of tall grass/reeds to be used as a base texture. -color variants, not all marshes are spooky swamps -half submerged logs covered in moss -super muddy paths, edges made to rise out of the swamp (other path assets are carved into the ground usually) - muddy footprints (human and common swamp beasts) -insect swarms to put around decay -structure stilts? Not sure how that looks top down, but feels important for any swamp abode. Decks and docks are a part of this.
