Cave Assets Pack

Hello all!

It is finally here! After much experimentation and help from many of you earlier in the month I have completed a total of 42 individual tiles to comprise the first round of our Cave Assets.

Per your request there are a variety of tunnel types, pits, ravines, and sizes for you to play with and mix-and-match to create some sprawling cave complexes relatively easily. I also included versions of each tile with a transparent ground so that you can replace the cave floor texture with something more to your liking if necessary. I ALSO separated every cave wall into their own individual asset so you could build tiles from scratch! Lastly, there are also a small collection of cave props including stalagmites, rocks, boulders, mine carts, holes in the ground, etc.

Due to the size of the files and Patreon's weird limitations on file storage the pack is uploaded in two parts, both of which I would recommend downloading. There is also a printer-friendly PDF you can download from its Google Drive location here which is referenced in the 'Read Me' guide.

I will be making this pack available to the public this weekend, so until then go crazy! While I know there are some limitations to the pack's scope that I don't really plan to go beyond on this first round, if you notice any errors on my end or small tweaks I could make please let me know!

And of course please let me know if there are any tiles (either unique one-offs or whole 'types' of tiles) that you'd like to see! I'm keeping a running list of more tiles I could do and luckily the systematic approach to this method means making more to add to the collection further down the road will be a fairly straightforward task.

Enjoy!

Anybody else having issues downloading the ZIP files?

Yeah that's right! To be fair this is a problem with any predesigned cave using tiles cuz of the randomness. I am working with premade view lines from roll20 and try my best to fit the walls to that.

These look good, thank you for the inspiration! Just so I totally understand your comment, when you say it’s difficult to use the tiles on premade cave outlines, do you mean that’s it difficult to recreate existing caves exactly as they appear in modules?

Excitingly enough, there was an area on this level with a chasm and a tree over it, I had to do that little bit next XD https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/420813172526809089/538127332788011038/unknown.png?width=660&height=675 I've been using the little rock groupings to cover any awkward areas of mismatched borders, and it works quite nicely!

Finally got a chance to do a bit of a test run for my re-mapping of the Dungeon of the Mad Mage with your cave tiles. As expected, it's hard to use tiles on pre-made cave outlines, since I have to force them to work with the pre-made dynamic layer borders. Luckily, the overlapping bits make the walls actually more interesting and 'layered'. The shadows make for some awkward lines here and there, but overall I think the final look is pretty good! https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/420813172526809089/538111224588664843/madlvl4a.PNG?width=514&height=675

I'm not sure what was deleted James, but I wouldn't worry about it!

Looks great, as always! Can’t wait to try out using them in my Roll20 game!

I'm not too sure why my previous post was deleted. Just in case I stepped on anyone's toes with my poor sense of humor I apologize.
