Hello all!
For the first map of September I share with you the Upper Caves, my re-envisioning of one of the dungeons from an original 2E AD&D adventure module, Evil Tide. Evil Tide was a part of series of aquatic themed adventure modules alongside Night of the Shark and Sea of Blood (gotta love those pulpy old school titles) and you can expect to receive more water-themed dungeons from those adventures in the future (alongside our upcoming desert-themed dungeon!).
Should you wish to read through the underwater adventure this map accompanies you can pick it up now from DMsGuild and should you like it enough, can even grab a 5E conversion module for it too!
However, suffice it to say that these caves reside beneath a medium-sized island inhabited by humanoids and are connected (via the tunnel in the Northwestern corner) to a series of mines. If looking to run players through here on your own sans module, expect players to have to encounter underwater creatures like Sahuagin that have taken over the caves and left the corpses of some miners floating in the water. The caves are connected to the sea around the island via the tunnel on the west side of the map and can fill up with water during high tide (the map displays the cave during low tide). The key at the top of the map should help you cipher which areas of the cave are completely submerged in water, partially submerged so that players could get oxygen, or areas that leave enough land to walk on.
In addition to the version pictured here, I've also included in the pack a variation with a 5ft grid for VTT use as well as a 'blank' version without the various props so that you could simply use it as an underwater cave system to suit your own purposes.
Enjoy! The 'Drowned Caverns' accessed via the chasm in the Southeastern corner will be the next dungeon map you see from this series.
