Forest Battle Map Assets

Hello all--it's finally here!

The forest battle map asset pack is totally finished and ready to be used for whatever you want to put it towards. In total, the pack contains:

- 85 different tokens

- A hand drawn 'Grass Field' texture base

- A grid set to make a 1in grid at 17x22 printout

- A couple of 'example' maps

Please enjoy and feel free to share! I'm going to be keeping this Asset Pack publicly accessible till the end of September, at which point it will become patron-only again until I make another 'expansion pack' for it in the future.

Although the license is included in the pack, just a reminder that these assets are to be used for non-commercial purposes only and are published under a BY-NC-SA 4.0 International Creative Commons license.

Hi there. I am a Park Ranger and I was wondering if I could use your forest map assets on some way-finding signs in our park. I'm not sure where a park falls in the non-commercial use department. The signs would only be mounted in our park and not for sale or anything like that. Thanks for you input.

I'm actually also really looking into printing them and using them as flat tokens on my battlemap, something like for example the Geek Tank tokens (<a href="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tabletop-tokens/tabletop-tokens-premium-plastic-tokens-for-tableto)," rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tabletop-tokens/tabletop-tokens-premium-plastic-tokens-for-tableto),</a> only drawback right now is that they are all individual tokens (no printable sheet with multiple tokens) and most of them have a dropshadow while for printing just a black outline would be best. Don't know if there are any plans to create these kind of Printable Asset Packs, if not i'd probably resort to creating them myself for private use but I can see how many people would love to have these in physical form to assemble their own maps.

Hi Sebastian; just tried it myself and was able to download them successfully. You can try again perhaps on a different browser, or otherwise visit this google drive link where I have all of the public assets available: <a href="https://drive.google.com/open?id=1-LqQchM_8vjrF8tLR1xB7OeYoxhupFY_" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://drive.google.com/open?id=1-LqQchM_8vjrF8tLR1xB7OeYoxhupFY_</a>

Is the download link dead? I can't get it to work for me.

Sebastian

These are my go-to tools for my roll20 campaign!

Dude, this is insane... Thanks!

This has been so incredibly helpful and I love the way you've drawn the trees! I'd definitely like to see more landscape assets like this for different types of regions!

Arthur_Of_Camelot

Thanks! These are along the lines of things I've been looking for for my physical tabletop games for the longest time! Do you plan on doing something similar to this with a town theme? Like buildings and carts and things of the like?

Hm, aside from simply printing them individually and cutting them out? I haven't actually tried printing them out as tokens myself, though I can certainly see now why someone might want to. They are by default set to 1/2 print size, so you may just want to ensure that you blow them up somewhat before you print them as tokens.

Venatus Maps

Hey there, any tips on printing these to use as tokens on a physical battlemap?

If it helps, I'm usually pretty good at making things look seamless. I made a seamless (repeatable) version of your grass field, which I'll email to you.

Yeah please do! You can email them to me: venatusmaps@gmail.com

That would be amazing, cause you're right. Cropping did not work. lol I can send a couple of example files if you would like. It uses an 800x800 file and has a 100x100 preview image which is easy enough to scale.

Hm, I'm not familiar with Dungeon Painter Studio myself so I'm not 100% sure what you mean exactly. Do you just mean that you would like an 800x800 pixel square of the grass texture? Because I could consider trying to make something like that in the future, but I don't think it would work very well simply trying to crop it in from the current texture background. It would be very obvious when it was repeating.

This works great in Dungeon Painter Studio! Though in order to use the grass terrain I have to use the existing image. Is there a brush compatible with that program? 800x800 repeatable tile? Not an artist so I have no idea what that takes. Keep up the great work. Your work is amazing, and these tile sets are making DMing 3 times a week less stressful!

I use Photoshop myself and have used them in Roll20 occasionally--they're just png files so they should be pretty easy to use in any image-editing program; Gimp comes to mind as a reputable, free Photoshop alternative. You can read through this thread on Reddit for other suggestions people offer: <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/6vrtk3/ocwe_hit_a_goal_on_patreon_so_heres_a_free_pack/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/6vrtk3/ocwe_hit_a_goal_on_patreon_so_heres_a_free_pack/</a>

Any programs you recommend using with these assets?

Of course! Customization is always going to be useful. And seeing as how both of the goals we've hit now are both asset-based I'm sure we'll see more in the near future!

Venatus Maps

Very nice. As much as I love your normal maps, I think this is going to be the most useful thing in my entire collection. Do you have any plans for more themed assets?
