Hello all!
I decided that for our Storm King's Thunder installment this month that I would return to the desert coliseum that is home to one of the campaign's main villains: Iymrith. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, or haven't downloaded the map I made for one of the campaign's final, epic encounters, you can see its post here.
This map however, as the name and appearance implies, lies beneath the previously released coliseum. And while it may look like a dungeon map (and I suppose it is in a sense), it is still at that 'extra-large' battle map scale that the coliseum was at. I say extra-large because it is 4x larger than the normal battle map size I release at a total of 22x17 inches and intended to be printed out at twice that at a grand total of 44x34 inches in tabletop play.
As you can imagine, the extra size here means a lot more time invested than I would regularly put into one of my maps and as a result, this map will count as 2 maps for the sake of my 'total map count' for December. The next immediate post I make will also be a 'paid post' and will contain a 'notes' version of the original coliseum map so as to more easily see where traps and holes line up with its underground counterpart, as well as the trebuchet tokens used in the above-ground battle.
Now, the decisive final encounter with Iymrith can be totally, visually realized! This battle has some great storytelling and mechanics built into it by design, so I'm glad that both 'pieces' of the scene can now be fit together properly.
Enjoy!
