M Lesson Start Post (June 2021)

A couple of news items to go through, so I'm making an extra mid-month post.

1. Steps to Love is fully patched. Yay!

2. The script for M Lesson Cram Session! is divided into 4 parts. For the sake of simplicity, I count file length by the number of lines of code+text in the file (the actual number of lines of dialogue is about a tenth of this):

Common route

(23069 lines)

Nana route

(31296 lines)

Mizue route

(13978 lines)

Maki route

(27287 lines)

I don't have an exact estimate of how long it will take, but my Steps to Love pace was ~15-20 percent of a route per month. At that time a route was about 40k lines of code, so that amount of progress works out to around 6-8k lines of code. This month I'll be starting halfway through, but here's a general rough guess about timescales:

(3-4 months for common)

(4-6 months for Nana)

(2-3 months for Mizue)

(4-5 months for Maki)

I'm still working on a way to get text spacing like it was in Steps to Love.

Like this.

As opposed to...

Koibumi runs on livemaker 3, but M Lesson runs on Livemaker 2, and one of the tweaks between engines means that the method I had used previously no longer functions. Livemaker will continue to be the death of me. But I'll work on the things I can do first and focus on making forward progress.

3. The illustrated collection of last year's short stories will be going on sale on Smashwords next week. I had to make a few tweaks to get it in there. Nothing with core content, just changing the formats some to match their guidelines and adding a linked table of contents. The book is still available to patrons for no extra cost until June 21st.

4. I finished playing through Sakusei Byoutou. It contains some truly extreme content, some of which made me squeamish. But it's a very well-crafted game. Planning on a review.

5. We're halfway through the month, and once we're all the way through it, we'll be halfway through the year. Amazing, when you think about it. Hang in there!
