So! This is a video I’ve been stewing on for a while! I’m not sure if you’ve seen Adrian’s “What is Luxury” video - but I really really enjoyed it! And although I didn’t fully agree with every thing he said, I loved the whole concept! And he really got me thinking in that video! So this is less of a “Response” and more of an “Overflow of Thoughts His Vide Left Me With” (but that didn’t fit in the title lol - so I had to go with “Response”.
I have a really good relationship with Adrian! I’d never want him to think I’m attacking him or slagging him off! So I hope I handled this all well! 💕

I think the difference for me is found in looking outside of the watch world. There is a “luxury” class of cars and many of them are not scarce, you can walk into a dealer and buy most of them fairly easy. I think you touched on it with the restaurant thing as well, a meal at a very expensive restaurant isn’t a scarcity really you just need to make a reservation. I think scarcity is more about collecting than luxury. I think luxury is more about necessity and cost. That’s just my take. I think it is very odd to see a watch that costs $5,000 as a non-luxury item.
