New video! How do they count Covid deaths?

This question came to us from Hank Green, and I wanted to take the opportunity to look back on the pandemic, now that dozens of studies have been published. I was hoping to see more clearly how many lives the virus took from us, and I came out with more confidence in the US number and less confidence in the global number than I had going in.

I am always enamoured by Joss's art direction on episodes with a big emphasis on data and statistics. it's skeuomorphic, but in the other direction where traditional art supplies mimic traditionally computer generated graphics which makes for a really engaging visual aid. it's a great mirror to the "explanatory journalism" style because it feels like the producer is discovering, or learning about the data with you. I came from Hank's newsletter!! so happy this project is happening.
