September Work in Progress 1



This is a lil' update as well as a Work in progress set~
For those on the discord, you'll know I was hospitalized again with what essentially happened 2 years ago when I was helivacc'd x'D But I caught it early enough on that i only had to spend a lil less then a weel in the hospital this time near the beginning of the month. I've got a bunch of followups, but it's never a dull moment with lupus x'D There is a non zero chance that this might complicate things a bit in the future but I'm kinda been in this perpetual holding pattern while I get to followups and test results back post stay. And I'm not just gonna, do nothing while I wait x'D

So the Luminora [LUM] Guidance Class VoidFrame~
I had a lot of little tests and things I wanted to try while I was hanging out in a bed for most of a week, and when I got out I started puttering~ I mocked up a little base punch for doing inset pieces on some bases in a kinda zen garden theme, as I think it fits well thematically~ I also tried doing some wispy forms as a first, and I think at scale they'll look pretty good~ I also wanted to make a larger more armored core, as well as a kinda slightly more involved base for the Luminora Frame.
I've got a handful of pieces left to base model (lower arms/head/weapons/etc) but I've got enough progress that I figured a WIP set would be good to show~
Rest assured if I do anything floating it'll have it's own connection to the base, and there will be more generic standing poses as well~ I'm trying to keep the back socket setup relatively the same across the scale, so that any kind of plug or core I make will work across the line, and the rest of it's pieces are compatible with the previous frames x'D

A few people have asked me about a weapons platform, and that's in the pipe, but it's something I'm going to really get into when I get to modeling the main weapons systems for them. It's a critical thing across the line, so it's not something I want to rush x'D

The floating one? Yeah, it'll be one of the poses, I just have to connect it to a stand of sorts~ there will probably be 5ish lower body poses, 2 floating, 2 standing, and one with the big core~

I've got most of this faction roadmapped out actually x'D But it's kinda a bit nebulous in if I get a particularly good piece of concept art from Kabewski, I might move things around~ Probably sometime next year at the pace I'm working at~ There's just so much good stuff to model here x'D

Love how these are shaping up! I need to know, are there plans for a teleporting, monofilament shooting, arachnid type unit? Those are a unit I've ALWAYS wanted, but didn't see the point in getting ugly, 20 year old, super expensive models.

You know the way you put those big rings on the fishmechs and they were AWESOME? I’d like to suggest “antlers” for a similar addition to the voidcrafted. Not LITERAL antlers, of course, but just as an aesthetic influence for things that stick off heads, backs, shoulders, etc.

Actually Emboss in Fusion 360 should be able to pull off a roller with your design, I’ve played around with it putting a drawing on a cylinder. Adafruit has a pretty good video on a lot of ideas you can do with Emboss in Fusion. Love the designs you are doing on these, I wasn’t sure on the initial discussion of the Void line, but I’m really excited to see what is to come with them.

Loving these so far! Have printed about 20 of the basic/assault frames so far lol. Are you thinking there will eventually be as many of these as the fishmechs, or will this be a more limited range?

Closest thing I can make would be a negative press (which I did and it'll be included), But fusion can't really make a textured "roller" like this so to speak, just a flat press kinda thing~ ~Pipes

Love the basing - any thoughts on turing it to the "negative" version, and making a clay roller similar to what 'Custom Minature Maker' does?
