Website Remake
Added 2020-03-09 16:56:29 +0000 UTCIt's finally begun. After a long, long wait, the complete site remake of YHR is happening.
We're redoing everything from the ground up, and there will be so many new features and improvements it's impossible to list them all here. However, here are some of the highlights that people will enjoy the most:
New tagging system
This will replace the current categories/collections entirely. Instead of jumping through hoops trying to find one particular comic, only to find it's not where you'd expect it to be, the new tagging system will let you search by common tags to make finding your content easier than ever. Tags will be curated by staff, so you won't find booru-style "tag aboslutely everything!"-esque tags, just the ones that are most relevant to the comic or art!
More community focus
Community events, a "feed" system for users to post updates, friends and followers overhauled entirely, and a new on-site currency gained from doing on-site activities like participating in the community, posting updates, making friends, adding favorites, and more. What will the currency be used for? You'll have to wait and see =)
Modern design
YHR was built to look modern and sleek. And it did... back in 2012. Now it's a little dated, to say the least. We're using Material Design standards for the new site, and going for a mobile-first approach, since most of our visitors browse the site from their mobile phones, tablets, and even game systems (We see you, PS3 users! Yes really). Easier navigation, more intuitive design, and better mobile usability.
FAQs
We get a lot of questions over in the Discord about this, so here are some of the most common ones and their answers
- Q: How long will this take?
- A: Probably the rest of the year. It's hard to say for sure, but we want to do it RIGHT, and that means taking our time. However, we don't plan on taking Y!Gallery time on this =^)

- Q: What are you using to make the site? What's the technology stack?
- A: A combination of Django and Vue.js with Vuetify.js, with a REST API, 2FA, social auth, and more, all running on Ubuntu through NGINX via Gunicorn

- Q; Are you taking any advice? Tips? Requests?
- A: Always! Message me here, on Discord, Telegram, email, wherever, and let me know any feedback you have
That's all for now, but stay tuned for more updates, previews of work done so far, and eventually an invite to the alpha, beta, and pre-release versions as they get closer to being completed, with Patrons getting exclusive access before anybody else =)
