MTADW : Chapter 149

[3rd POV]

The mountains were flattened, and the earth was charred and pulverized. A crackle of electricity washed upon the destruction, acting as a reminder of what just took place.

*Spit!*

Kai spat to the side while trying to get up to his feet but that proved to be almost impossible. His body had many cracks all over and even though he was healing, it was not instantaneous.

An odd chuckle escaped his lips and echoed through the desolate battlefield - completely silence by raw power.

Kai's body had shrunk noticeably, only staying at around 7 feet. His condensed muscles were gone, leaving only enough mass to make him appear mortal.

As he was struggling to push himself up, Tai Lung suddenly landed in front of him with a loud boom that made a crater.

His face was as cold as the ice-lands he was born in. Even though this was the greatest battle in his life, Tai Lung did not show his usual excitement for battle.

He grabbed Kai by the neck - his claws sinking into the body made of jade - and he lifted Kai up by the neck. Kai could only dangle his legs helplessly while staring straight into the eyes of the strongest warrior in existence.

Yet there was not an ounce of fear in Kai's eyes, only greed.

"You...your chi is completely filled even though you used such powerful moves. You can regenerate your chi infinitely." Kai said and his eyes glowed brighter and brighter with every word.

He had spent his life stealing chi and never even thought of the possibility of creating infinite power. But now, someone who was capable of doing it was standing in front of him.

Kai wants it with every fibre of his being.

"Tell me, if I overload your body with endless amounts of chi, would you die?" Tai Lung asked while tightening his grip on Kai.

Kai just gave a weak smile, "W..Why don't you give it a..try?"

Tai Lung did not want to try. This was completely different from the canon movies, Kai was obviously much stronger than he should be and Tai Lung knew why. It was because of all the warriors who he himself sent to the spirit realm.

For example, the cultivators from India would never have died without his influence. They could extend thier lifespan and live for centuries.

But they all died at his hands and that gave Kai the opportunity to absorb them. This may change a lot of things like Kai dealing with the weakness of his technique.

"What? Scared?" he taunted and Tai Lung growled.

He pulled back his other hand and extended his claws. Then he willed his chi to wrap around his sharp claws, enhancing them enough to be able to cut an immortal.

His black claws got even blacker until they looked like a void, sucking the light around it and bending space.

Haki, it was the will of the spirit. Through Haki, he was not only able to harm the enemy through physical means but he could also use his sheer will as a weapon to hurt the spirit.

At least, that was the theory Tai Lung had in his mind.

But he never had the chance to test his theory because a mountain fell on top of him. A mountain known as Samudragupta.

Tai Lung's body sank into the ground as if it was liquid. Meanwhile, Kai lept away to a safe distance and watched as his Jade soldiers rushed at the enemy together.

In total, they were enough to paint the sky green.

Kai smiled, thinking that he could recover while his Jade soldiers kept him busy.

However, that smile was quickly wiped off when a suffocating aura spread throughout the vicinity and pressed down on the world.

Conquererous Haki.

The earth sank down at least one level. The jade warriors who had not reached a certain threshold cracked and then they were destroyed immediately.

Kai quickly got to work and re-absorbed the chi of all the jade soldiers who were destroyed by the heavy pressure. In the end, only a few dozen were able to stand in Tai Lung's presence.

"Increadible." Kai commended.

Tai Lung's arm emerged from the ground and then he pulled himself out. The jade warriors and Kai watched as a white aura emanated from him. It was willpower given form, it was the presence of the supreme.

Suddenly, the aura emanating from Tai Lung stopped and silence took its place. No one moved a muscle until fire roared to life and spread throughout the area. That indicated the start of the battle and the Jade Warriors rushed at him.

Meanwhile, Kai remained in his place. He was using the time to create strategies and fully recover his body from the last attack.

Immortal he may be but he could still be damaged.

The sound of explosions filled the air, creating punctures in the atmospheric layers as a toxic hurricane brew amidts the chaos.

Tai Lung was using everything he had learned and all of the powers he nurtured to deal with the Jade Warriors quickly. The moment the Jade warriors were destroyed, they turned into pendants and rushed back at Kai.

The battle was swift, no warrior in history could last a minute with Tai Lung. Kai was also brought out of his thoughts when he felt his instincts scream at him.

Tai Lung gathered a black ball of energy in his mouth. The black ball wrapped around itself and folded many times until it became condensed like a black hole.

He grabbed the heads of two Jade Warriors - Master Rhino and Master Bear (Wubao) - before slamming them to the ground, crushing thier skulls. He swallowed the black ball before spewing out an earth-shattering explosion from his mouth.

The air screamed and the world was razed. The beam engulfed Kai and many of the Jade Warriors. The aftermath left everyone devastated.

'It's not working.' Kai thought to himself while gritting his teeth and he roared.

"Come back!!" He yelled and all of the Jade Soldiers turned into pendants and flew back to him.

That was enough, he had finally came up with a plan during the time.

Kai felt his body become stronger and energised with each chi re-absorbed. His body expanded and regained its humongous size.

But by then, a sun had descended to the battle.

"You have to be kidding me." Kai said to himself.

The ground was ripped apart. Boulders and debris were sucked into the bright yellow ball above Tai Lung. The miniature sun was so powerful and condensed that it had its own gravitational pull.

Even Tai Lung was struggling to handle the sun. His body lit up multiple times and waves of energy washed over him, trying to regenerate all of the chi he expanded every millisecond.

At that moment, there was only one option for Kai.

Run!!

There was no pride in the face of death.

Kai started using the new technique he had learned from Oogway, opening a gate leading to the Spirit Realm. He worked as fast as he could and after a few seconds, a gate was erected.

"You won't get away!!!" Tai Lung said and finally tossed the miniature sun at Kai.

He was right. Kai was not fast enough to create a gate for himself. Not only was his chi that of multiple warriors, but it was also too vast to fit into an ordinary gate. It needed extra work.

But in the face of death, inspiration struck Kai and he opened the gate right in front of him. The miniature sun got absorbed by the gate and Kai quickly closed it.

The sun exploded in the Spirt realm, causing the entire dimension to tremble.

Tai Lung couldn't help his eyes from twitching. All that hard work and it was countered that easily.

Kai sighed in relief, knowing full well that he got lucky this time.

And the battle went on.

Tai Lung's body turned into lighting and slammed against Kai. He did not stop and shot straight towards the sky.

Tai Lung's lighting body pushed Kai to the sky as the next plan commenced. If he can't kill Kai, what if he threw him to space?

"NO!!!" Kai roared, realizing what Tai Lung was trying to do. They were moving up at an incredible speed and it wouldn't be long until they left the orbit.

Kai threw his blades to the ground.

Then he tried to fight Tai Lung in the air but with his body completely turned to lightning, Kai could not hit him. It was only afterwards that Kai realized it required Chi to even land a hit on Tai Lung.

As they shot past the thermosphere and entered the exosphere, Kai's blades finally planted themselves on the earth.

Kai channelled his chi into the endless chains and made sure the blades remained stuck onto the ground. He grabbed the chains and it was only then, did they finally come to a stop.

"Tch." Tai Lung clicked his tongue before his body shifted to flesh again.

Kai's hands were occupied with grabbing the chains so he took the chance to coat his claws with armament haki and as much chi as he could gather.

Then not a second later, Tai Lung finally put his theory to the test. He swiped at Kai, sending the immortal to descend to the earth like a meteorite.

Tai Lung cracked his neck and fell towards the earth as well, following Kai.

..

..

////////////////

*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!*

Kai's body crashed back to the earth with enough force and momentum to pulverize a city. His body created a crater that was big enough to fit a mountain

They were not even in China anymore. The fall had sent him to somewhere else. Kai immediately noticed the difference in the amount of chi in the air as he claimed out of the crater.

Kai felt a jolt of pain in his chest and when he looked down, he felt a sense of dread swallow his heart. Until that moment, Kai did not even know it was impossible.

Fighting against Tai Lung, he learned that...

Spirit's bleed.

..

..

Kai cursed. It was not just normal damage like how his body cracked before. There was a claw mark on his chest and green blood was flowing out of the wound. Kai could feel his spirit, his soul, permanently damaged.

Kai looked up to the sky and did not see the enemy. It seemed it would take some time for Tai Lung to catch up to him again.

That meant he had time.

He had to utilize this moment as much as he could and try to recover from the wounds.

Kai kept calm, as a veteran warrior and Supreme General, he knew not to panic and cower when met with certain disasters. He looked around the surroundings, trying to gauge where he was.

Then his enhanced eyes caught the sight of a city a few hundred kilometers away. His brows creased when he saw the unique architecture.

"Is it Rome?" he questioned but he wasted no time blasting towards the city.

He could use the time to create a gate to the spirit realm but at this point, he was not sure that would work. Tai Lung could very well follow him there and he did not know the condition of the realm after he sent the miniature sun there.

So he did what he thought was the best move at the moment.

Go to the city and quickly absorb the chi of any strong warrior that exists there. Who knows, it might also discourage Tai Lung from fighting with full power.

The battle they fought was no ordinary one. They both had to overcome impossible challenges.

Tai Lung had to find a way to bypass Kai's immortality while Kai had to find a way to defeat Tai Lung even with the huge power gap between them.

Tai Lung seemed to be close to overcoming his challenge while Kai still remained clueless. Maybe the city had answers.
