Update // Moment of Zen

Tidings, one and all. This month’s update comes slightly tardy courtesy of the half-week I took off to spend time with my siblings who, in full Hallmark movie fashion, I hadn’t been with in 35 years.

It was an all-around wholesome visit that I never thought I’d get to experience - just like I never thought I’d get to see a tourist be completely aghast at the idea that british shops don’t take foreign cash or that ketchup isn’t seasoning and most definitely not a condiment for shepherd’s pie.

While it was only a handful of days, this was my first actual “holiday” in years and, surprising nobody, I’m actually feeling pretty good after the break and looking forward to cracking on with work, so as to not keep myself waiting let’s get on with it:

(I mean, besides the celebrity guests, and events, and being able to collectively nerd-out to your heart’s content for 72 hours…)

In closing

I don’t know if it was the few days I took off, the somewhat successful attempts to regulate my sleep and social media exposure or the 180oz of water I’ve started drinking thanks to the ridiculous human-sized cup I received as a present, but despite last month’s medical concerns (which in fairness are still here, undiagnosed and haunting me from the eaves), I feel a little more lively than I have in a while, so while I don’t want to speak too loudly lest I trip on a leyline, I’m hoping that this reprieve - or "moment of zen" just so the title of this post makes sense - will carry me through August and, fingers crossed, overstay its welcome.

And wouldn’t that be nice for a change?
