Update on upcoming Plugdata Patches & Beta testing 👀

Heya! Hope you're all well! 🥳

I wanted to give you a little update on what's coming plugdata wise, as this month was a little quieter!

Reason for this is because i started multiple plugdata patches and have been working on them back and forth! To be transparent with you, i wanted to drop you a little sneak peek on what these potentially look like & what they do. I will also be previewing the next update to N-SPEC COMP LITE 2.0, which you will be able to beta-test on the discord server in the coming days!! 🥳🥳

N-SPEC COMP LITE 2.0 ( Very soon)

2.0 Update with new and improved smoothing algorithm, downward / upward compression ratio splitting, simplified and efficient ui with curve selection and Makeup gain, CPU optimizations.

The last curve is a recorded OTT frequency response, accurately replicating ott's frequency response.

I also plan to do a 2.0 update to N-SPEC COMP, with new and cool features like frequency response recording!

Join my Discord Server through patreon ( Discord role is part of your tier benefit) to BETA test Spec comp lite 2.0 when it drops the coming days before official release! :)

N-MORPH (DSP close to done, UI to go)

N-MORPH combines 3 methods of cross-modulation.

1. Frequency cross modulation using FFT

2. Phase cross modulation using FFT

3. Amplitude cross modulation using RM

You will be able to morph between the main signal and a sidechain signal, but i am also wanting to add an internal sidechain oscillator that keytracks to the main signal, so you can morph between basic shapes and the original signal.

You can then use the crossover filters to blend between the morphed and original signal + flip the carrier and modulator!

I also managed to introduce FORMANT SHIFTING, which will be part of N-MORPH and potentially its' own effect in the future! 🥳

A lot of time has gone into this one, as i wanted to covert both imprinting frequency and amplitude information efficiently!

UI isn't done yet, but this one is VERY promising.

N-COMP EQ (close to done)

N-COMP EQ is a dynamic EQ using downward & upwards compression to compress frequency regions to target volume, rather than a traditional eq that offsets the volume of frequencies instead.

This is super powerful because making eq changes with comp eq stay consistent, as the up&down compressor makes sure the frequency region targets the volume you set it to.

The 1 node version may be free, but i plan on making a version with up to 4 nodes.

N-FREQ CONV (Placeholder name, no UI yet)

FREQ CONV records your audio over time and generates an averages spectrum response curve, which it then spectrally compresses and turns into a convolution IR. This process is incredibly efficient and can completely flatten any sound as long as it is similar in frequencies (aka single elements, not entire mixes).

You can then smooth out the spectrum compression and trim the resulting ir, resulting in linear phase low latency (down to 2ms) corrective flattening eq.

FREQ CONV also comes with high quality spectrum tilting and crossover filters so you can get back to pink noise slopes or leave your lowend unaffected!

The idea behind FREQ CONV is to be a 3 step corrective eq that saves you the final step of eqing a sound when you're done sound designing/creating it. Due to the high resolution nature of convolution, you can get incredibly precise eqing without any of tedious work!

The screenshot below shows freq conv in action. It accurately flattens everything to white noise using convolution, which can then be simplified and optimized to be incredibly low in latency!

UI for this one will look a lot different when it is done and it will have a different name!

N-PRESSOR (dsp close to done)

Hardcore 3 band high quality multiband compressor using extreme upwards and downwards compression.

This patch was inspired by image line maximus's aggressive upwards compression that it can achieve. This was a fun side idea that i may release as free, if the demand is there (so let me know in the comments👀)

There are still so many cool effects and ideas i want to explore, so here are some of them! Let me know which ones you'd like to see after N-SPEC COMP LITE 2.0 drops, so i can direct my attention towards a specific patch! :)

Have a great weekend and thank you all so much for the continued support, i appreciate it a ton! 🥳

I vote for N-MORPH to be the next release 🗣️🗣️🗣️

Glass Violet

hey! What version of plugdata are you using? I recommend latest stable 0.9.1! :) That one is very stable!

Can’t wait to eventually load up plugdata without Ableton crashing 😅 thank you for the work tho
