. . . so much for the healthy options, and protein powders don't help either.

. . . a novelty.

Giving your liver a few days to chill is a good thing, but be aware, sugar and especially fructose will bully your liver. Orange and apple juice are the worst, full of fructose, and they depend on your liver to do the job. Fructose can ONLY be broken down in your liver. Younger adults actually get fatty liver due to overconsumtion of fruits and sugar without ever had any alcohol.

. . . every little remedy helps over time.

I also read that lemon juice has shown some benefits for liver health. It’s an easy and tasty thing to do so I squeeze one into a liter bottle each day. Another person mentioned magnesium so I may check that out as well. Cheers!

. . . very telling and an endorsement to self-control and moderation. It helps us all survive.

I conducted a few surveys within a niche group of whisky enthusiasts of a fair size to determine the frequency of whisky and other alcohol consumption and habits to a degree. The group containing the most people is the one that takes 3-4 days off whisky per week on average (45% of the total). In fact, only 30% take less than 3 days off in a given week, and a whole 25% only consume whisky for 1 or 2 days. Interestingly the vast majority of those that don't drink whisky at least 3 days a week are also completely dry during that time, with a small percentage drinking other non-spirit alcoholic beverages. I think it speaks volumes that we whisky hobbyist folk are in it to get quality experiences, not quantity. Maybe you didn't need a survey to be able to tell that, but it's nice to have the numbers.
