JUNE 18TH | 23:55
It was too close to midnight when your phone started buzzing with a new call.
You were already in bed, with a book on your lap as you tried to wind down so you could fall asleep; which was already a very hard task for you on a good day. Your bedroom was only lit up by the warm lamp on your bedside table, the curtains were already closed shut so the nightlight from the backyard didn’t bother you. Your body jumped with the incessant buzzing, people hardly ever made phone calls these days, and your heart tried to leap out of your chest when you saw the caller was Jeongguk.
You immediately went into high alert.
“Guk? Is everything alright?” you brought the phone to your ear, sitting up in case you needed to run out to pick him up somewhere.
“Uh, yeah... everything is fine.” the man answered you in a soft, slightly sleepy voice. You sighed with relief. “Sorry, did I scare you?”
“No, no it's fine. What's up?” you lied, and he knew it was a lie too, but didn’t press.
“Nothing’s up. Just missed your voice.”
You chuckled, bringing a hand to your forehead as your eyes closed and you willed your body to calm down. He was alright. Probably home. “Guk, you heard my voice all day.”
“I missed you, then.”
“Oh.” your cheeks hurt from how big your smile was as you tired not to let it show in your voice or breathing.
“I was coming over to see you, but hyung is still awake.” he said with a little groan that sounded lazy, as if he was stretching. Definitely home, then.
“Yeah, there's this weird art doc he's really adamant on finishing tonight, so I don't think he's sleeping anytime soon.” you said, reaching for the book mark to close your book. Speaking to Jeongguk was a lot better than reading.
“I'm sorry, pretty.”
“Don't be sorry, it's not your fault.”
“I know, but I'm sorry I can't kiss you whenever I want to.”
Jeongguk’s voice was rough and a little raspy. You wondered if he had been sleeping before, but woke up and decided to call you. You could imagine his sleepy face, maybe some pillow creases on his cheek, messy hair and pushed out bottom lip. It almost made you ask him to video chat instead, but you weren’t sure you looked as attractive as he probably did.
“Do you want to? Kiss me now?” it was a slip, one of those ‘spoke without thinking’ moments. But you didn’t regret it when he replied:
“Yeah. Do you?”
This felt like pure torture, it was the only way to describe it. Jeongguk was only a few meters away from you, at the end of the hall, and you could march in there and put you both out of your misery. Kiss him like you both wanted to. But your brother was right there, on the opposite side of the hall.
As much as Namjoon was used to the two of you hanging out, knowing you were friends, and you didn’t think he even had any suspicions that you might be attracted to each other, going into the boy’s bedroom in the middle of the night wasn’t something you had ever done before. And this wasn’t the time to start.
“Yes, baby.” you whispered.
Jeongguk’s answer came in the form of a groan, but there was nothing sleepy about this one. With a giggle, you asked:
“What was that?”
“You have no idea what you do to me, do you?” now he just sounded breathless, as if forming the words required great effort.
Meekly, you said: “Why don't you tell me?”
“You drive me crazy.”
“I like that.”
“Yeah?” another sigh.
“Mmhm, I like the idea of you in your bed, thinking about me, wishing I was there too.”
It was a good thing the man couldn’t see you right now. You were positively squirming as you leaned back against your headboard, getting comfortable on your pillows.
You didn't think there was another line you had to cross, in this situationship you found yourself in with Jeongguk. But apparently there was. A line you discovered as you were making out outside the ramen spot.
A line you were desperate to cross as you continued:
“Do you wish I was there too, Guk?”
“Yes, pretty.” his voice alone was enough to make you press your thighs together.
“Wish I was kissing you right now? On top of you?” your own voice sounded weird to your own ears, but Jeongguk seemed to like it just as much.
“Fuck.” the curse was followed by a hum of agreement.
“You felt so good against me, Guk.”
“I know. You couldn’t stop making those little moans of yours. Fucking love that shit.”
“Baby–” this time you knew what reaction the pet name would have on him when you used it.
“Pretty, if you keep doing this to me–”
“What? Gonna make you hard?”
You weren’t a prude by any means, but saying something like that, over the phone, wasn’t something you had ever done before. And not with someone like Jeongguk, who made you blush like a little girl with a crush every damn time he looked at you too long.
Your neck was on fire, heart beating fast as you pushed away the anxiety that made you want to second guess yourself. A small gasp left your lips as you heard him say:
“I'm already hard, pretty. If you keep doing this, talking to me like that, I'll make you do something about it.”
“Please.” your voice trembled and you closed your eyes, back arching off the bed in pure reflex.
“Fuck, I like the sound of you pleading.” there was light shuffling on the other side and you wondered what Jeongguk was doing. Was he getting comfortable too? Maybe he was as hot as you felt and took off his shirt? Maybe took off something else too?
“There's another sound you might like…”
“Hm? Why don't you let me hear it, baby?”
You were overcome by a braveness that was only there because this was Jeongguk. Someone you trusted, someone you desired. You were so drunk with want that you didn’t hesitate in holding your phone with your left hand and slipping your free arm under the covers, past the band of your pajama pants, and into your underwear.
You knew Jeongguk could hear your breathing get heavier, the movement of the covers, and when your fingers slipped between your folds, he could hear your moan of pleasure.
You were so wet, which didn’t surprise you with how teasing this phone call was. Two of your fingers slid up and down your pussy, gathering enough of your slick to bring it up to your clit. You rolled it gently, but you were so sensitive it was enough to drag more moans from you.
“Fucking hell, you sound so good. Tell me what made you moan like that.”
You should be expecting that question, really, you were giving Jeongguk enough opening for him to ask. But you still hesitated.
“Don't get shy now. Bet you're blushing.”
“I'm always blushing around you.” you admitted breathlessly.
“Cute.”
You didn’t want him to think of you as cute, not right now. And you definitely didn’t want him to think you were uncomfortable, didn’t want this to end yet.
“I touched my pussy... I slipped my fingers under my panties, dragged them between my lips.” you confessed and his own moan made your fingers speed up just a little as you massaged your clit.
“Are you wet for me?”
“Mhm, so wet for you, Guk…”
“Keep going, keep touching that sweet pussy. Close your eyes.” his tone was quiet but firm, leaving no space for refusal.
“Okay.” you obeyed, closing your eyes on command.
“Bet you wish it was my fingers instead of yours, huh? Teasing you... bet you'd be so fucking tight for me.”
“Guk, fuck–”
With each word you felt yourself getting wetter. The small shocks of arousal were spreading from your lower belly as your legs spread wider and you got lost on the feeling of your fingers teasing your hole, feeling it clench as a tip slipped in. You did wish it was him, so fucking bad.
With your eyes closed it was easy to picture him on top of you, whispering in your ear, pushing his finger inside of you just like you were right now.
“Think you could take two fingers? You might need three if you want to take my cock.” he teased.
“I want to…” you whimpered as the two fingers he mentioned slipped into your pussy.
You hadn’t felt this full in a long time, didn’t really have a habit of touching yourself all the time, but this… You wouldn’t mind repeating it more often.
“Want what?” Jeongguk pressed.
“I want your cock, baby.” there was no hesitation this time, not when your palm pressed down on your clit and your hips rolled against it.
“Bet you'll feel so tight around me, bet you'll look so good when I'm fucking you.” you could hear the change in his breathing, the desperation behind his voice.
For a while there you couldn’t say anything, too lost in your own fingers curling and searching for your sweet spot, hips swirling to make them reach deeper. Jeongguk sounded rather busy on the other side too as you heard the open and closing of a drawer, followed by the pop! of a bottle cap.
You whined as you pictured Jeongguk getting lube on his hand, using it to wrap around that big cock of his. You assumed the hiss he let out was from the coldness of the gel, and the moan that followed was caused by how good his own hand felt around him.
You wondered what Jeongguk liked. You wanted to know if he liked fast, hard tugs, squeezing at the base. Or if he liked the slow tease, the prolonging of the feeling. Did he like to have his balls played with? Was his tip sensitive? You wondered if it matched the color of his lips.
“God, I'm so close.” he said after a while and you focused on the wet sounds coming from his end of the line. His speed was a little higher now.
“Me too, baby.” your moans were quiet, too mindful of the fact you weren’t alone in the house and your brother was down the hall, but they never ceased.
“Keep going, are you rubbing your clit?” Jeongguk sounded rushed, breathless, pretty moans –as quiet as yours– leaving his lips too.
“Mhmm, feels so swollen.” you nodded, as if he could see it. “Have two fingers inside too.”
“Don't stop, want to hear you… want to hear you cum.”
Your fingers curled upwards as your hips swiveled up and down, hitting your g-spot as you fucked yourself on your two fingers. “Fuck fuck fuck please–”
“Cum for me, pretty girl.”
Jeongguk’s growl made your movements speed up. Your whine was high pitched, blended with a whimper as your muscles tensed all over, lower belly clenching, pussy throbbing. As fast as it formed, the coil burst and you let go, letting your orgasm hit you, letting Jeongguk hear how good he just made you feel.
And he wasn’t doing much better on the other side either, mumbling a series of curse words and the most beautiful chorus of ah ah ah! you ever heard. The man was all grunts and groans until you heard his long and dragged out sigh of relief.
You regretted not having asked to video call, knowing without an ounce of doubt that Jeongguk must look deliciously handsome as he cums.
“Shit, that was…”
“Good?” he asked between more shuffling on his side of the line, probably moving to clean himself up.
“So good, Guk.” you sighed, pulling your hand from your underwear, cleaning your fingers on your pajama pants, too blissed out to really care about anything else at this moment. “But also bad because now I really want to kiss you even more.”
Jeongguk’s muffled chuckle made you smile. “Yeah, I get that feeling. I miss you more now too.”
“Is it always gonna be like this?”
You didn’t know yourself to be the kind of person that gets sad after sex –or phone sex, rather–, but you did like skinship and cuddles as part of your aftercare. So having Jeongguk so close and yet so far away was obviously making you a little gloomy.
The answer took a while to come and, even when it did, you wished it was a different one.
“I don't know.”
“I hope not.” you sighed.
“We'll find a way.”
It sounded like a promise and not just empty words, so that made you feel a little better. You let the call fall into silence again, both of you lost in your own thoughts, until your yawn was too tired to mask.
“Do you want to hang up, pretty?”
“Can you stay on the line a bit more?” you spoke so softly you didn’t know if he even heard.
“Of course, baby. I'll stay with you until you fall asleep, okay?”
JUNE 19TH | 14:32
“This is the life I want.” Minsu said as she received a tall glass with a fruity drink from Sohee. “Minus the clumsy dog–”
You giggled as you watched Bam try to jump to sniff the drink in the girl’s hand.
You, Sohee and Minsu were spending the Sunday afternoon in the pool of your house, having a bit of a girls day and catching up. Since the latter didn’t join you at the ramen shop on Friday, you texted your group chat inviting them to come over. Angel was invited too, but she was busy preparing for a presentation she had to make at her job.
Your friends’ jobs allowed them to rest during the weekend, and your indefinite status –where you had no idea what you were going to do with your life– put you in a constant state of idleness.
Actually, that wasn’t quite true. Technically you were an university student who just wasn’t studying at the moment, you had a career plan mapped out in front of you with a step by step guide containing what you should achieve in order to reach the end goal.
And so far you had been following it pretty well; acing all of your subjects at SNU, collecting experience abroad, mastering a second language, filling up a folder with certificates of trainee programs from big companies in the South Korean capital and from the USA.
But none of those plans were yours.
At least you had the excuse of summer break to justify your lack of a schedule and you hadn’t given up on writing your article completely just yet.
“Bamie, come here, boy!” you called for the dog that was trying to get Minsu to play with him, with absolutely no success.
You hoisted yourself up from the deep part of the pool, stepping onto the tanning ledge where the water level covered only your ankles. Upon hearing your call, Bam came to you, never caring about his wet paws as he ran around the ledge with a tennis ball that had seen better days stuck between his teeth.
Bam was a three year old Doberman that still acted like a baby. He was a lot more well behaved now than when you first met him, thanks to Jeongguk’s training. The dog only ever jumped in the pool when he was called, hadn’t ruined any shoes or furniture for the last three weeks now, and he always did his business in the appropriate space for it inside his kennel.
The big puppy let you take the tennis ball from him and you threw it across the yard for him to chase it, giving Minsu and Sohee a rest.
The three of you were in all kinds of tiny bikinis, in an attempt to chase that glowy tan neither of you had going on right now. Sohee had just returned from the inside of the house, where the batch of hwachae was stored in the fridge to stay cool, bringing out your full glasses refilled with the drink.
You received your glass and laid down on your stomach, on the floor of the tanning ledge, so your back took in the hot sun, but the front of your body stayed cool inside the water. The girls did the same and the three of you faced each other in a comical position, as if you were about to have a meeting from a gossip club.
“You don't have an extra room in the house, right?” Sohee asked as she looked at the two story building behind the two of you.
“Sorry–” you shook your head and pulled a disgusted face as you took a sip of your drink. There was definitely alcohol in this. “–the guest bedroom is taken.”
“Dammit. I wish I could live here too.” Minsu sighed, resting her elbow on the floor and her head on her hand.
“I mean, the couch is always free for you guys.”
“I've always been curious about something.” Sohee started again, as if she just had a thought that was eating her inside. “How can you and Joon afford a place like this?”
“Soo!” Minsu reprimanded her with wide eyes, making you laugh.
“I don't mean it in a bad way!” Sohee tried to defend herself. “But this is a nice part of town, and I know Joon isn't making a fortune from working at Bangtan.”
“None of us are at the moment.” Minsu mumbled in agreement.
“And you added another man into your bills!” Sohee continued, clearly meaning Jeongguk. “How rich are you?”
“I'm not rich. Joon isn't either.” you started to try to explain, pausing to take a sip. “Our parents own the house, and they pay for the main bills. You know how, when parents get divorced, they make up for it in other ways? Usually by showering the kids with love, right? The whole, two bedrooms, two Christmases, nothing's gonna change, we'll still love you unconditionally speech?”
Both girls nodded. This was a sore subject and there were details about your parents’ divorce that you didn’t want to get into, lest bring the mood of the day down. Noticing how they were paying attention to you, expectant for you to continue, you carried on:
“Our parents make it up to us with guilt money. Our family is a complicated one, work and appearances were always more important than the sanctity of home.” you said, ignoring their eyes in an attempt to avoid the pity looks. “They allow us to live in a place like this, sponsored my trip and pay for my education. But just because they are always too busy to actually see us. To be our family.”
“That's sad…” Minsu sounded awkward, not that you blamed her.
“I got to save a lot while I worked as a Korean teacher in America, and Joon has his job and Cypher, so we don’t need our parents to live. We pay our own bills and we could move out if we wanted to.”
“Oh, honey, it would be stupid to do that.” Sohee shook her head as if forbidding you from doing it. “I say you take that guilt money for as long as you can.”
You didn’t plan on depending on your parents like this forever, and neither did your brother. But you both had your reasons to accept it. It felt particularly nice while you weren’t sure what the future held for you anymore, you needed that safety to be able to make your decision, try and change your path.
“And Guk doesn’t live here for free either.” you felt the need to add, as you didn’t want them to think the boy was taking advantage of you. “He helps out with the groceries, the house work, we all chip in.”
Maybe you had been drinking Sohee’s spiked version of hwachae too fast, as you felt a little woozy and it was almost over already. Soon it would be your turn to go into the house and fill everyone’s cups.
Five more minutes into the tanning session, the three of you turned towards the house again, when loud music started playing from one of the rooms on the bottom floor. Sliding doors were opened and you knew then that your brother was about to work out.
Namjoon was shirtless when left the makeshift home gym that he swore was the reason for all of his muscles, not really coming near the pool, but waving to you and the girls. Sohee giggled and squealed, waving back, and you rolled your eyes.
Jeongguk was curious enough to poke his head out to look at what Joon was waving at, but he was perfectly clothed. If he wasn’t, you might be the one squealing.
You hadn’t seen him yet, ever since your heated phone call from last night, so you didn’t know how you would react if you saw him shirtless at this hour in the day.
“Do you ever feel like you have a new brother?” Sohee broke the silence and got your focus back on them.
“Huh?”
“I mean, Joon and Guk. They are like... inseparable now.” she explained.
“I wouldn't say inseparable.” you offered her a little shrug, poking a piece of watermelon with your straw and bringing it to your mouth.
"No, no she's right. They were always close friends, but now they live together, work together…" Minsu said as if she was trying to coax you into making a conclusion.
"Work out together–" Sohee agreed.
Looking at them, you followed their line of sight and it led to both men doing stretches in the lawn as Bam laid down next to them. Sohee in particular seemed very interested in watching them.
"Stop staring, that's my brother." you bumped your elbow against her ribs, making her squeal.
"Which one?" she teased back.
Her and Minsu laughed, but you only rolled your eyes. Thinking about Jeongguk as a brother, fake or not, was something you never wanted to do.
When your lying position became too uncomfortable and the sun on your back felt too hot, you sat up and turned your back to the exercising boys so at least your front would be facing the sun.
"For a while there we thought Guk might... you know." Minsu whispered, hiding behind her glass.
"What?"
"Have a thing for Joon." Sohee finished and your nose scrunched. “Don’t be like that, we have gay friends! We support that!
“The gay part is not the problem! Just…” you flipped the rest of the drink into your mouth, suddenly too sober to think about Guk and your brother like that. “I know Joon isn't gay or bi. And I wouldn't want Guk to have his heart broken like that, you know?”
“Yeah, I get that. Imagine getting over someone like Joon... can't be easy.”
Sohee said it so dreamily, clearly still staring at your brother and Guk. You waved your hand in front of her face, trying to break whatever spell she seemed to be under, and said:
“Oh my god, do you want to fuck my brother?!”
“I mean, I wouldn't not want to fuck your brother–”
You pretended to be sick and throw up, making the girls laugh. Thanks to the alcohol in your system, you managed to laugh too.
Still between laughs, Sohee looked at your chest, not even pretending to be smooth, and said: “I'd fuck you too, Yn.”
“Oh my god!” you laughed hard at that, throwing your head back.
“So, what you’re saying is you'd fuck any Kim?” Minsu teased your friend, making tears slip from your eyes.
“You're one to talk!” Sohee bit back, but before you could warn her to be careful, she said: “You fucked one over.”
All of the laughs died down instantly, as Sohee was clearly taking a jab at her for what happened between Minsu and Taehyung. You knew she didn’t mean it in a hurtful way, more on the drunk side than you were. But good intentions didn’t matter right now, as Minsu was clearly hurt about the comment.
“Wait, Minsu, I don't mean it like that…” Sohee tried, but Minsu was already getting up with tears in her eyes.
You both called for the girl, but she didn’t want to listen, getting out of the pool and walking to the furthest part of the garden.
“Shit.” Sohee threw some water on her own face in an attempt to sober up.
“She'll be fine, you know how she gets when Tae is mentioned.” you told her, sympathetic. “Just go apologize.”
“Yeah, okay.”
The glass in your hand was empty for a second time and if you were about to deal with drama, you’d need it to be filled.
You got out of the pool, risking a peak in the direction of the home gym, and didn’t see your brother or Jeongguk outside anymore; catching glimpses of their moving shadows through the glass walls. Grabbing your pool towel on the way to the inside of the house, you wrapped it around your waist and went in search of more booze.
In the kitchen, you left your empty glass by the marble island and opened the fridge to grab the bowl with the watermelon punch Minsu refused to give you the recipe to.
“Hey, pretty.” Jeongguk was walking into the kitchen when you turned around with the bowl in your hands.
You were about to tell him off for using the pet name like that, so out in the open, when he did something even worse. Jeongguk held your face with both hands and pressed his lips on yours. You were so gobsmacked and he was so fast that you didn’t even have time to close your eyes.
“Have you lost your mind?!” you hissed, placing the bowl on the counter with a little more force than you meant to.
“I told you that would happen if you kept teasing me.” Jeongguk justified it with a little side smirk.
“Tease– I’m not even doing anything!”
His head cocked to the side and his eyes roamed your body. You were so shocked by the kiss that you didn’t even notice your upper half was only covered by a small bikini top and he could probably see your nipples poking the material.
You had to hold back the urge of pulling the towel higher on yourself.
And the urge to pull him in for another kiss.
Jeongguk walked past you to reach for the refrigerator, pulling the door open and grabbing a cold water bottle. You forgot what you were supposed to be doing so you could stare at him instead. He was wearing a black tank top shirt, with a small pool of sweat on the top of his back, coming down the center; the material was sticking to his muscles, allowing you to see every little bump.
When he turned around again, he had pushed his hair off his forehead and the sweat held it up in a little quiff.
“Looks like you were having fun out there.” he told you as his elbow closed the fridge shut.
“I guess…” you sighed, getting back to your task of filling up your glass with hwachae.
“That doesn't sound so confident.” his eyebrows pinched with a little concern.
“No, we were.” you waved a hand in the air so he wouldn’t worry. “Sohee said something that upset Minsu, so things soured. That’s all.”
“Was it about tae?”
“Yeah.”
“And you’re dying to take Tae's side, but you feel guilty because Minsu is your friend too?” Jeongguk circled the kitchen island so he could be standing in front of you, leaning on it with his elbows.
“Exactly!” your eyebrows raised as you felt relief that he understood you. “I guess part of me wants to have this blind female solidarity because society is always pinning women against each other. But Taehyung…”
“He's your best friend.” Jeongguk said as if it was justification enough.
“He's also my oldest friend. He knows everything about me, and I know everything about him.”
You and Taehyung met in High School, at age 15. Back then you were too shy for your own good, so your parents thought it would be important for your social development for you to join the school’s theater club. Not only would it help you get out of your shell a little more, it would look good on your resumé to have one more extra credit activity.
Apparently being part of the school paper and debate club, tutoring younger students, and volunteering at animal shelters on the weekends wasn’t enough for them. But you were thankful for their insistence, as it was in the theater club that you met a loud and dramatic boy with questionable haircut and big ears.
“He even knows about us.” Jeongguk said as he kept the water bottle next to his lips, biting the opening out of habit.
“Yeah.” you rolled your eyes, lips wrapping around the straw to take a sip.
“What did you tell him?” Jeongguk wanted to know, watching every move of your lips.
“Not much... Oh, I didn't–” you leaned closer to him on the kitchen island, whispering as you said: “If you're worried, I didn't tell him about that night you were hurt.”
“Not worried about that.” he offered you a sweet smile so that you wouldn’t worry. “Just curious about what the girl I like has been telling her best friend about me.”
“Oh.”
The single syllable came out as an exhale, cheeks feeling so hot you might as well still be out in the sun.
“Cute.” he grinned.
“Stop that.” you brought both of your hands to your face, palms cold from holding onto your drink soothing your warm cheeks. “I really hate how much you make me blush.”
“I love it.”
Jeongguk laughed heartily, a sound so pretty that it made butterflies swirl around in your stomach. You peaked at him through cracks between your fingers, watching as his eyes crinkled in the corners, his nose scrunched and his teeth reminded you of a bunny.
And he had the nerve to call you cute.
“You know, people told me stories about you.” you schooled your expression when you removed your hands from your face, jutting out your chin and slightly puckering your lips.
“My reputation precedes me?” the side of his lips was pulled up and he fixed his posture; standing tall and pushing his chest out.
“Not at all. Everyone always told me you were shy when you joined Bangtan.” you stated, arching your brow challengingly as he faltered. “All noona this, hyung that. Took a week to look into Sohee's eyes.”
Jeongguk let out a laugh, but it was awkward and half hearted. “Okay. And?”
“And I don't believe them. You're not like that at all.” your hands were on your waist as you walked around the marble island to stand next to him. Only Jeongguk’s head followed you, his body didn’t turn toward you. “So they are either all lying to me, so I wouldn't feel attracted to you–”
“Wait wait, you wouldn’t be attracted to me if I was a shy mess?” he asked with the crossing of his arms, which made his biceps flex.
“No, I'm pretty sure I still would.” you continued, tracing a few lines of his tattoos with a fingertip. “But this... you. That's my ideal type.”
“Good to know.”
