Here is another case of old research paying off! Back when I spent quite a lot of time on attempting to fix Thronebreaker before I gave up on it to avoid burning out, I had a way to force it to not pillarbox at 21:9 and wider.

Now with The Pedestrian out on Microsoft Store and the file access update still available only to Insiders (accessible but not something most people would do), I had to offer a solution as an alternative to the usual aspect ratio bytes replacement documented for this game on Steam. I guess another benefit would be the ease of use - I don't know how many of the patrons here hex edit, but out there in the world I always see people run into issues or make mistakes when trying to do it. If you've done it, you find it trivial but they do not! Some even end up refunding.

Well, I found some code that resembled the things I had seen in Thronebreaker, and I already had the workaround somewhat prepared from that time. I still dug in and experimented with other approaches but settled on what I had, adapted to the new game. The implementation is nothing similar to the manual approach but also proof of how even an unfinished solution can be of use later on.
