Major updates to Halo the MCC cutscenes fix

The latest update to the game must have been significant, as I got two comments for the PCGW page reporting that most of my fixes for the collection were no longer working.

They were right and much of the relevant game code had been changed. For the prior solutions, forcing the game to ignore its checks was sufficient for removing the pillarboxing, but this time there were all kinds of weird approaches at play.

For example, Halo 3 ODST was now not only vert- but also severely letterboxed. Messing with some of the checks did remove the black bars and affected the FOV, however, the FOV change was not accounting for the area that would have been covered by the letterboxing even at 16:9. So as with Manhunt 2, I had to introduce my own calculations for ODST and Halo 4, which too had its vertical field of view reduced following the update.

For 4, I also created a separate solution built on even more of my calculations in order to allow the user to switch between the natively vert- FMVs and not losing any vertical view but getting pillarboxing.

All in real time, of course. It must have taken over 10 hours of work and each of these solutions could still be its own trainer, as they have nothing in common, so I thought I'd let you know!

The image that you see here is one that I wanted to upload to PCGW but its convoluted system of having to upload each image as a mod version update got in the way, while the slow loading speed turned me off completely :D More for you then!

It's not a direct connection in this case, as in Manhunt 2 I had to create the pillarboxing by placing the image in the middle via my calculations, and here the FMVs already have the letterboxing embedded, so I had to trick the game into pushing out those black bars so that the content fills the entirety of the available vertical space without any distortion. Still, there's always something new to learn in everything and always some idea to carry over :) Sometimes it's a function known to me but long forgotten!

Amazing how the work for Manhunt 2 ends up being so relevant, so quickly. As the philosopher Alanis Morissette would say: isn't it ironic?
