CH54

Hello all,

Please see the next chap. Apologies about the delay.

I've rolled up the last two scenes (most of it anyway, the rest can fit in 55) in this one humongous scene.

As always, let me know what you think.

Edit: Added updated Elamaerys map where you can see the plans of the new cities, sheep farms, and more.

Edit: added corrections on some pages (like 65, 66, and a few others i can't remember).

Edit:

I'm looking forward to the sequel! Hope there's a trilogy it would be cool to see what happens during the demon war before the war for the dawn

The magic system is interesting, but it doesn't really feel like the magic system of ASoIaF, and with each "deeper truth" we learn that "foreign" feeling intensifies. Of course, the truth of the matter is that there isn't really a magic system at all and it is just GRRM pulling whatever he thinks feels write out of his butt. But even considering that, this system still doesn't feel right for the setting even if it is interesting. Still this has been another good story by you. I look forward to the last chapter or two and then whatever comes next.

Actually if you think about Elaemarys being “America” it might be quicker to get there by going west

Cannibal is dead. Killed as easily as Sheepstealer. Although Aegon and Misaragorn took the corpse of Cannibal (most of it anyway as Misaragorn had a bit of a snack) to an uninhabited island nearby to take scales, blood and bones before burning it to nothingness like they'd done with Sheepstealer.

I'll add maps after the story

I can explain that Aegon has learned that magic is something that inherently something internal but also dependent on the universe they're in. He'd believed it had come from that astral plane before, where it leaks into the universe, but he's now more sure that it is not the case. Weirwood trees existed long before the COTF purposed it for their own needs. The point above an this one will be explored in the last scene quite a lot. Aegon made a promise to Helaena and typically he isn't one to break his promises to people he cares for. Besides, Alicent is also not exactly very well in the head either, and children do pick up on that even if they might not understand the context until much later. Which is a benefit for Aegon who has that presence that basically radiates authority and calm. It helps that he is kind to them too. And as you say, he's kind of a pseudo grandfather to them now. Definitely. It's kind of funny how Aegon has transitioned into worrying about it all, which whilst coming from a place of love, also comes from a place of selfishness. He wants his evil to have had real meaning, a real translation into something good and worthy despite it all. It's kind of turning into his penance.

There are schools for girls! What Aegon was talking about was more for a school for noble girls and common girls who are 'exceptional', a kind of school that is as vital as the royal academies for the boys. As it is, Elamaerys probably quite ahead of places like Lys - who are already quite...ahead in terms of gender equality relative to the era - where women can own property, and have significant say in the household. Whilst women do not have any scholars yet in Elamaerys, there isn't necessarily any law to prohibit it and it wouldn't surprise me if it would be allowed eventually if there's enough push for it.

Hope Valaar will eventually find Planetos Australia, a fun scene of Aegon telling him exasperatedly that the calculations he based his guess on Elmerays being a continent, due to the earth's circumference being measured and it most likely being on the south east of the planet would be cool

I think they've already mentioned Elamerys is a little bigger than the Reach.

Good chapter as always. I am curious if you could perhaps explain in "small and simpler" words what Aegon has learned about magic and how it works. I'm guessing that Wierwood Trees are a special type of tree that is not solely connected to just the Old Gods and the Three Eyed Raven but can be used by other entities as well. Its good to see how life if moving on for Aegon, now that he is retired and has moree time to indulge in his won interests and reflect on his past and wonder about the future. The time Aegon spent with his grandchildren was well done, though I get the feeling that Aegon should havee just left Alicent behind in Westeros to die or have just outright killed her and saved himself any potential problems she might create but I guess that Aegon is limiting her contact with Jaehaerys, Jaehaera and Maelor and given that Aegon is basically integrated himself as their grandfather figure and head of family, I guess they will looks up to him more. Plus, the grandchildren all clearly seem to take his word as gospel from what we know in this chapter. The final scene with Gael and Aegon was nice, I guess even Aegon is not immune to the worries that founders of nations might have in regards to the future of his nation and civilisation and how they might veer of course rather than follow the path he has set forth for them. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Cool!! Can you add the area where those zerikas, and where Valarr found actual human?

Duy

Btw big is Elamerys comparatively to Westeros area and population wise after the dance? Also what is state of Essos population?

I do wonder eventually over time, there will be more public/private educational opportunity for females, like separate school that will educate them? I hope there will be some more opportunities for females by the time of 298 AC. I don’t mean like full gender equality, just having more rights, opportunities, protections, and privileges for females they’ll have access to later on over time.

Don Dieta

What happened to Cannibal? Will you also give summary of what happened with Westerosi Targs? Are the dragons of Westeros dead?

TyrantGod

Yes!! 😍
