hello little birds!!
goodness but it's been some kind of month, I scarcely know where to begin! i suppose the first thing to do would be to THANK YOU ALL SO, SO MUCH! because of your support and several new patrons as a result of a groundswell of ANATOMY exposure, we've reached my first milestone of $600!! THAT IS SO INCREDIBLE i truly don't even know what to say, i might just have to come up with a little twine game or some songs or a picture of a six-legged dog or SOMETHING by way of thanks, but until then, just know that i am totally humbled and in awe, and i can't thank all of you enough. every time i think of how many of you there are, how generous you are, and how your kindness enables me to do what i do, i'm struck speechless by how incredibly fortunate i am. thank you, thank you, thank you. <3
what else? well, as some of you may know, i'm actually in New York at the moment! i'm posting this update in my hotel room after having spoken at Kill Screen Festival 2016, my first ever live-in-person game-related event! it was an incredible experience, I met some amazingly kind and beautiful and brilliant people and totally drank them under the table at the pre-show dinner. then i was given an envelope of cash and told to catch a cab to a featureless set of black doors on the oustide of an unmarked building in a strange part of a city i'd never been to! does that not sound just exactly like a story i'd make up? and yet it's real! for the festival proper i spoke with the artistic director of a jaw-dropping immersive theatre piece called "Sleep No More" on the subject of horror and the uncanny in art, and it was equal parts fun and illuminating. i'm not certain, but i'm fairly confident that the talk was recorded-- keep an eye on my twitter feed, i'll be certain to tweet/retweet it as soon as i know!
on the downside, since this was my first event of any kind and the first time in nearly a decade that i'd done any kind of travel, the past several weeks have been a great deal of planning and corresponding and psyching myself up for the whole endeavor, which has made gathering the focus to get work done rather difficult. as a result May's Patreon game is likely going to arrive closer toward the middle of this month. i'm so sorry for the delay, but without giving too much away, this one is a fun idea that i'm quite proud of and i intend to make it worth the wait!
i think that's about it! now i'm going to roll around in this giant bed thinking about bird masks and cities and how much i wish i were home with my dog. stay tuned for more, little birds, and I'll talk to you all again soon <3
