Love the observations about masc ass 😆 Little anecdotal evidence - that open secret cheating thing is across a lot of the Caribbean 😂 I’m thinking, how is everyone going round humiliating each other with no come back 🙈 not to get deep, but I’m gonna..defo think it’s rooted in the idea that a version of masculinity there is tied to access to women, like you’re not a man if you’re not a gyalis! But women have capitalised on that (getting paid for sex). I think it was Afrodizja who talked about under patriarchy and late-stage capitalism relationships have become transactional (shown with hook up culture too, etc). Also anecdotal evidence from today to go with your observations around society’s treatment of “fat, black women” - no lie I was on a Fly Dubai flight today and the safety vid has cartoon characters supposed to be from all different cultures, but a lot are just racist stereotypes. After the seatbelt demo the shot goes to a black woman who is drawn nearly twice the size of her seat, who’s tied the seatbelt across her in a knot and is throwing a fit about it. Like how did no one from their PR team have a word?!
