Newsletter: week of Oct. 28

This week was all about M4, M4, and M4! For a quick rundown check out this lil' recap from my bud Vjeran. In a few days I'll have a video about the tech I use everyday, which includes a used M1 MacBook Pro (spoiler: you don't need to upgrade).

tech-y stuff i have been thinking about:

I saw this post on threads and decided to try it. Did I gain anything from it? No. Was it fun? Yes!

things i watched:

I subscribe to FlakPhoto Digest which is a newsletter about people in photography by Andy Adams. He featured this video last week about photographer Meryl Meisler along with her quote "I don’t usually go to photograph; I photograph where I’m going." What a beautiful reminder that if we get out there and start living, the photos will find us. There are even more great pieces of wisdom in the video along with many of her powerful photographs.

A great title, but an even better story. I have been watching a lot of bikepacking videos over the last year, and mark my words I'll be making one of my own once the weather improves. These adventures provide both a great way to tell a story of overcoming challenges, and also showcase some incredibly beautiful landscapes. Personally, I just want to know if my mind and body can move me that many miles. Plus there is a whole lot of tech and gadgetry I can test along the way... hehe. If anyone knows any rad bike mechanics in the NYC area or has bikepacking experience please let me know!

A great story that is very well edited with loads of sound effects that actually work--an instant add to my inspiration doc.

Enough said.

things i listened to:

I have been tuning into these "meditations," or live sessions, for a few months now because of how incredibly calming and flowing they are. My personal favorite is no. 10.

This one was one repeat last winter but I asked Gemini to play me some old favorites and just like that we are back bb.

I could listen to Alex talk for hours about climbing so this was a no brainer listen.

Ok, that's all I got this week! Let me know what you saw down in the comments?? Hope you have a great weekend, bud!

The best thing i watched this week came from this newsletter. I loved the meditation music. Calmness is a rarity these days due to work and bringing up young children. I used to photograph, a lot, but no longer, sadly. But I feel energised by immersing in the creativity of others.

Ahh ‘500 days of chasing my dreams’ is lovely. Love how it’s put together. (Also prompted some feelings of intense gratitude for how my career has panned out over the last 10 years.) The best thing I saw this week was this short film/ad Save The Children made called Fér. Stunning, powerful, and unique. https://vimeo.com/1017294125
