South Park Season 12 Episode 2 (Britney's New Look)

I had a slight idea of what the episode may have been trying to shed some light on (regarding news outlets and media as they relate to celebrities), but I can only speculate. I'm sure there are some more connections relating to the elections, and definitely to Britney Spears herself, but I simply don't know enough!
Seriously. I-I don't know enough. Especially given how this weird-ass episode ends...

Yeah, if you didn't get the reference to the old guy mentioning a lottery and stoning people to death, that's a reference to the classic American short story "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson, which was about a farming town that hosts a lottery where the winners get stoned to death as a form of human sacrifice prior to the harvest, discussing the dangers of continuing dangerous and inhumanely archaic traditions, especially. ones that result in bloodshed, along with the blind acceptance of it. The second half of the episode was entirely inspired by the book.
